🧵 So in a break from the gloom I'm gonna share something wonderful:

In 2020, after years of searching, I finally managed to score an original copy of the Sunday Times magazine containing THAT almost mythical 'A Life in the Day of Tom Baker' article...

#3GoodThings

1. Found cheap part to help fix D Jnr's car.
2. Cooked perfect roasties.
3. Watched TV with cat on lap.

Imagine if you could review a stream of consciousness like this bullshit but by your ancestors.

Related: If you're a descendant reading this, many decades or even centuries from now, hey! Thanks for looking me up! And wow, I'm glad we made it, because that looks seriously doubtful right now.

The Beatles were amazing. I even accidentally enjoyed that film with Sheeran re the world forgetting them. But I don't listen to them and they're not my cup of tea. (Sheeran certainly isn't). I don't even like tea. This is not an edgy opinion and it's okay to have different tastes. *exits minefield*

RIP Tom Stoppard. 🖤 Brazil remains my favourite film and favourite Christmas film!
Tom Stoppard (with scenes from the Terry Gilliam film "Brazil" whose screenplay was coauthored by Stoppard) - RIP

I would go as far as to say it’s actually an important trait to being a good artist, to have a firm sense of who and what you don’t like and what you don’t want to do.

I'm teaching a course at the Irish Writers' Centre this spring where we will start out working on basic ideas and try to move them forward to script stage, it was a lot of fun when we did it last year, very happy they have asked me back:

It's interesting revisiting this as an adult* and enjoying it again, but differently. I'd forgotten how seriously bleak, smart and a bit weird it is in places. My three favourite things.

*but not a grown-up. watch out for those.
Decided to revisit Edge of Darkness on iPlayer to help get me in the festive mood.

I’m not doing Black Friday this year.
I’d rather be honest with you than try to compete with big brands.
Every purchase genuinely makes a difference to my tiny business.
Shop independent this Christmas.

We all know someone who frequently regurgitates utter bollocks when not infuriatingly reinventing their entire past turning everything into a preposterously absurd self-aggrandizing fantasy but you don't bother correcting them...

Haaaaa, suuuuuure, I'll just log into my account and enable auto renew. That would certainly benefit me A LOT. Thanks for taking the trouble to explain that in your email, dear insurance company.
