Somebody posted an old photo in a Facebook local group and asked if anyone could clean it up. Well-meaning people turned to #AI. Lots of responders seemed happy with the results, but this is how you destroy historical records.

Desiccated Embryos; Exasperations of a Big Wooden Dummy; Flabby Preludes For a Dog; Being Jealous Of a Friend Who Has a Big Head; Spleen; A Little Prelude to The Death of Mr Fly; Rat Air.

It's crucial that I take my pill.
Just as crucial that I don't exceed the stated dose.
I put it on my plate beside my sandwich.
I ate the sandwich.
But now there's no pill on the plate..
..or table/floor etc.
Did the pill get stuck to my sandwich and I ate it?
Or have I not taken it?
Life's a dick.

#NowPlaying an old Мелодия label copy of Romeo & Juliet by Prokofiev, which I picked up decades ago for a quid.
I was lucky enough to see the Bolshoi Ballet perform it at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow (back when it was feasible to live there)*
*I say feasible: someone shot at me from a high-rise.

Oh, come on. Really?
I cooked noodles yesterday.
Spotted this on the bag:

Mentioned this before, but, last time I was at the dentist, they analysed my teeth with AI. It found an incipient cavity that the human dentist had not spotted.
Very clever.
Except that the cavity it found was just outside my actual head. Arguably, the entire universe is a cavity outside my head.

News about the state of the world in general has become unbearable.
Living in the West feels like being a passenger in a car with no headlights or brakes, speeding down the wrong side of the motorway at night, and the 6-year old driver is in the middle of an intense psychotic breakdown.

Still the only podcast I religiously tune in for.
(And I'm still Team Sceptic, despite my compelling 'experiences')
We've had a huge response to this week’s #Uncanny ep on Road Ghosts👻🚘

Listen as I investigate 2 new cases + the famous Bluebell Hill case with Ian Simmons, writer for the Fortean Times. Here we are near the supposedly haunted road in Kent!

Available on BBC Sounds or wherever you get your podcasts👻

Because Switzerland wasn't bombed, you still often see buildings like these in the cities, except they're not tenement - they were built to a high standard, designed to house families from a cross-section of society. Middle- and working-class families in the same block. Seems to be the same today.
2/ Secondly, Liverpool's interwar tenement housing of the 1930s - an innovative attempt to 'raise an A1 community in a properly planned township of flats':

No matter how many recordings you hear, it's hard not to measure them against the 1st that imprinted on you as a kid.
Recorded by the Halle, whose home was the Free Trade Hall in Manchester, it came out in 1976, just as the Sex Pistols were playing upstairs at the Lesser Free Trade Hall.

No matter how many classic #Hollywood score composers I listen to - Waxman, Korngold, Newman, Rózsa, Tiomkin, North, Steiner - I always gravitate back towards Bernard Herrmann.

Fritz Lang's Frau im Mond (Woman in The Moon, 1929)

This production photo is beautiful, and the film is important: first countdown, multi-stage rocket... A visionary sci-fi movie.

#NowPlaying Oneohtrix Point Never albums, 5 of which were also released as 'Rifts' (2012). #Hauntology morphing into #vaporwave. Dreamy, hypnagogic, experimental; echoes of vintage games consoles, Boards of Canada, Tangerine Dream, Steve Reich, Wendy Carlos, old TV ads on warped VHS tapes.

Non-US authors get zero compensation from the #Anthropic ruling/fine. Anyone know of any Europe-based class-action lawsuits?
