FYI.

And if you haven't seen it, you should. It's a good'un, as we used to say back on the farm.

George was just trying to get to work.

ICE pepper-sprayed him, dragged him from his car, locked him in a detention center, and placed him on suicide watch. He even missed his young daughter’s birthday in the process.

This man is a veteran and American citizen. Don't look away.

"They put me on suicide watch and they put me in the cell, I'm naked, in like a hospital dress and just a concrete bed with like a mattress, like a thin mattress and, they leave the light on 24/7."

@timmiller.bsky.social talked to a veteran who ICE wrongly detained and brutalized

Note: that should be "frog suit", not "frig suit", which is an entirely different kind of suit, and requires a very different strategy for mace penetration. If you see what I'm saying. And I think you do.

It's long been clear that Hamas offered to release all the Israeli hostages that it took 48 hours after the events of Oct 7, if Israel would agree not to invade Gaza. Netanyahu responded "no." He also decided that the Israeli people didn't need to know the substance of his discussions with Hamas.

This is delightfully surreal -- not least because it looks like the cops actually did some recon to figure out how to mace a dude in an inflatable frog suit. Or maybe they've always known that. Imagine the training session. "How to mace a guy in a frig suit" and the cadets are like GTFO.

ICE official testifies that DHS “prematurely” sent Abrego Garcia a notice that he would be removed to Ghana.

Just this morning, Ghana’s foreign minister wrote on X that the country had “directly and unambiguously conveyed to US authorities” that Abrego cannot be deported there.

Ghana is not accepting Abrego Garcia.
He cannot be deported to Ghana.
This has been directly and unambiguously conveyed to US authorities.
In my interactions with US officials, I made clear that our understanding to accept a limited number of non-criminal West Africans, purely on the grounds of African solidarity and humanitarian principles would not be expanded.
Ghana strongly objects to these misleading media reports.

@eff.org confirms a Tx LEO used license plate surveillance to look for a woman whose "romantic partner" (later charged w/DV against her) reported self-managed abortion.

The concerned sheriff is currently indicted on (unrelated, technically) sexual harassment charges.

www.eff.org/deeplinks/20...
Johnson County Sheriff Adam King repeatedly denied the automated license plate reader (ALPR) search was related to enforcing Texas's abortion ban, and Flock Safety called media accounts "false," "misleading" and "clickbait." However, according to a sworn affidavit by the lead detective, the case was in fact a death investigation in response to a report of an abortion, and deputies collected documentation of the abortion from the "reporting person," her alleged romantic partner. The death investigation remained open for weeks, with detectives interviewing the woman and reviewing her text messages about the abortion.

That sheriff has since been arrested and indicted on felony counts in an unrelated sexual harassment and whistleblower retaliation case. He has also been charged with aggravated perjury for allegedly lying to a grand jury. EFF filed public records requests with Johnson County to obtain a more definitive account of events.

As a protest optics nerd love about the inflatables is how much they visually disrupt and pull focus from the fascist shock imagery Noem & Miller are trying to create.

So many of these photos now look like the world's silliest dance party, backgrounded by a bunch of guys in uniform looking awkward

The first time I read this, I liked it, but felt it was too dated. I thought Windrip only got away with as much as he did because there was no TV or internet then. I thought the visual impact of both technologies would make his takeover harder.

Boy was I wrong.

"Build consensus" is a term which here means "report only public opinions that support us to make it look like no one disagrees with us".

But yeah, this has been the vision for some time – the role of HK media is to support everything the govt says, and vehemently denounce anyone who doesn't.

Zhou Ji, head of Beijing’s Liaison Office in Hong Kong outlined 3 “key hopes” for local media:
• focus on national development
• reflect public opinions & build consensus
• promote a positive image of China to the world,

i.e., become a propaganda arm for Beijing

Interesting. A lot will depend on the IT load capacity of the data centre (which DSD doesn't mention), which isn't always proportionate to sq metres. Some DC projects in Asia are being paired with renewable energy deployments to make them sustainable. Whether HK will do that is an open question.
jaywatt.bsky.social
I took the challenge and asked AI how much power this data centre in the Northern Metropolis might use - given Hong Kong is sweating through a record-breaking Autumn, it's going to need a lot of air con... and how much water will it be sourcing?

All of these are more likely than him winning.

I've heard some suggestions that the Nobel committee will give it to him just to shut him up. Even if they do, I don't think that would work. He'll complain that it took them so long, and then he'll expect one every year.
jaywatt.bsky.social
The forecast is for tantrum... the online cabal of digital news folk worldwide are placing bets on how it will manifest. A thousand words of complaint on TruthSocial? Special tariffs for Norway? I'm backing the dark horse - Fox News campaigns with Turning Point USA to create their OWN peace prize
