That rack was full. I ended up leaving my bike there locked to itself.

Useful to know. Never been across the Calder roundabout on a bike. I'm a *very* confident cyclist but I don't fancy that 6pm in Winter. Canal path isn't gritted as far as I know or lit. No practical way for anyone but the most confident cyclist to get to HW from Edinburgh in Winter.

I had to go to the main reception a couple of weeks back and could only find 4 bike racks in the area, all of them in use. As I cycled through the campus, coming down from Hermiston Walk. I didn't see any bike racks. Doesn't mean there weren't any but they weren't obvious.

This is on my mind because I start a new job at Heriot Watt next month and cycling from west Edinburgh appears to be infeasible. At the induction two weeks ago, I couldn't find anywhere to lock my bike safely. I may be missing something so this is a genuine, not rhetorical, question.

I have a question. How are we supposed to get to this venue by bicycle? As far as I can tell, the only way to cross the bypass from Edinburgh is on the unlit canal path at night. This includes two very narrow sections under bridges. Also, no sign of cycle parking at the venue.

Thanks for this thread. It would be handy to know which organisations and links to any publications where they say this. Perhaps add some further onward links at the end of the thread?

This is Reform's only Senedd Member Laura Anne Jones.

She is very angry about the Wales' Nation of Sanctuary that mainly supports Ukrainian refugees.

However she didn't always feel this way. Here are two speeches she has given where she says opposite things.

Dad’s books are full of empathy, common sense, and a healthy suspicion of the powerful. But at its heart his work is also about how systems keep people poor while pretending it’s their own fault. So I hope Kemi’s taking notes as well as reading the jokes.

Here’s another poem for National Poetry Day. This one is called ‘A Brief History of Modern Art in Poetry’.
A Brief History of Modern Art in Poetry

1. Impressionism
Roses sway in softened reds,
Violets swim in murky blues,
Sugar sparkles in the light,
Blurring into golden you.

2. Surrealism
Roses are melting,
Violets are too.
Ceci n’est pas le sucre.
Keith is a giant crab

3. Social Realism
Roses are dead,
Violence is rife.
Don’t sugar coat
This bitter life.

4. Abstract Expressionism
Are and.
Violets roses so.
You sweet blue.
Are are red is sugar

5. Pop Art
Roses go BLAM!
Violets go POW!
Sugar is COOL!
You are so WOW!

6. Conceptual Art
Roses are red,
Coated in blood:
A deer’s severed head
Drips from above

A comment on itch reminded me of this idea for creating #TTRPG dungeons I had a while back. I still think its neat and I don't think I've actually shared it here on bsky.

So bsky.. meet Crossword Dungeons!
Do a crossword, use the answers and designs as inspiration for the rooms, get creative!
a how to guide for creating crossword dungeons. Step 1 - Find and Do, do the crossword. Step 2 - See Beyond, find the inspiring words and start to see the shape. Step 3 - Extrapolate, ditch words you dont like, create walls, you contol the dungeon. Step 4 - Draw the rest of the owl (make the dungeon from the inspiration). Step 5 - BE NOT AFRAID. Its just a dungeon created from a crossword, they wont always work.
Useful tips: Metro for daily free crosswords. CrosswordSolver, for tricky clues. DungeonScrawl, for making maps. LootTheRoom - for more random ideas

the political policy cure for “male loneliness” is

- more time to hang with the fellas (4 day work week)

- more money to spend with the fellas (higher wages)

- more things to do with the fellas (taxing the rich and building 3rd spaces)

Indeed. The most important part of this is not the pros and cons of ID cards, it is the rationale presented for this choice now. Every time a politician says "makes our borders more secure" what people hear is "our borders aren't secure" and Reform goes up another % in the polls.

Every time one of these turns up, it brings a moment of cleansing relaxation at a time when all the rest of the world is a skip fire. Thank you.

One thing that is good about this is that you are clearly and repeatedly telling the world that Farage is lying. This is crucial because otherwise people who aren't paying close attention assume that there is a debate with truth on both sides.
