Short story idea. First draft

It was her hands. They were regular hands, after all, but it was they way they moved when she talked.
She talked to me, not knowing I liked her. Not knowing I liked girls and that, I think is why her hands did me in.
She kept throwing them out, with each burst in her

How is it that this accordian player in Father Goose (1964) looks so much like Robert De Niro?

Such an incredible actress.

Celebrating my birthday with virgin pina coladas, watching Father Goose, and having chocolate cake.

Went rummaging around in the storage unit and found a few of the old ones, with both parts
Ancient game pieces. Nebelwerfer smoke screens. An ingenious little two piece cardboard wargame chit holder. Stackable black pieces with clear hex bases

Only problem, the Nebelwefer smoke screens are only half there. The bases are in the box, but not the upright parts

Too long to watch? I have 139 books left and 26 eyeshadow palettes. I have shows every weekend this month and I'm hoping to run out on Halloween. ALSO I have a really good feeling the great pumpkin is going to come this year too.

If your zine is in the same universe as your novel, it becomes a novel magnet story too. The best way to pre-sell your novel is by making people want it through something they read.

When you are writing your short today, consider your self publishing options too.

was able to make the session. I felt things I knew were spiraling in my head and had to put the phone down and breathe before I responded too enthusiastic.
And as I waited, I imagined the message in my head over and over and how it would loom if I had seen her hands as she typed it.

story. She never let them rest. She was the best talker I ever knew, with her choice of phrase, her excessive vocabulary, her non-existent fear of colorful curse words, and her hands.
I could not stop thinking about her even hours after the game had ended.
When she texted the bext day, to ask if I

Dnd is kind of wacky because if you go deep enough in your dnd lore research you end up doing research on actual myth and magic
dhaustin.bsky.social
I think, just for me, the best part of digging deep like this was discovering the books that examine the meaning of myth and storytelling, like the book "Fairy tale as myth, myth as fairy tale," by Jack Zipes

I have often compared my marriage (43 years on Monday) to the relationship between Leetah and Cutter, not because of my bravery, strength, or moral fiber, of which all are highly questionable, but because there is no reasonable explanation for why she puts up with me other than the bond.

Did you know that in Baldur's Gate 3 you can create a body type 3, Drow Tempest Cleric of Selune who you can pretend doesn't think she deserves the attention of La'zel or Shadowheart, and wants to be like Karlach but knows she is not kind enough?

I remember when I first read, "Little Wars," and thought, hold on, hold on. This guy. This guy who wrote the Time Machine, War of the Worlds, and The Outline of History was so bored he made up a game to play with toy soldiers and cannons that fired corks?

Insomnia thoughts on who keeps getting raised up as pillars of the “TTRPG community” simply because they’re the loudest in the room.

Time & time again we see the rise & fall of people with big personalities but not a bit of morals or decency. Cause they were loud at the right moments.

me, were people who, often, had the same feelings of being other, or misunderstood, that I had.
Roleplaying games connected the parts of me that I had felt would never be connected to anything or anyone. Playing, sharing the worlds I made up, allowed me to see me as a real person.

introduced to D&D at the age of 12, in 1976, the structure spoke directly to me, even if I was too young to recognize that the structure was flawed.
It was a structure. A way to tell people, "Yes, I am playing pretend, but there are rules."
I found that people who wanted to play, wanted to play with
