💧 Will you help protect Dorset's Water for Wildlife? 💧

Less than 15% of Dorset's rivers are in good condition, and 90% of the UK’s wetlands have disappeared in the last 100 years.

Historically drained for agriculture, we are restoring the natural flow of water by infilling drainage ditches and clearing trees and scrub. This will help to retain water, particularly in the peat areas which need to be kept waterlogged to help sphagnum moss formation. (2/3)

Thanks to funding grants from the Species Survival Fund and the Nature for Climate Peatland Grant Scheme, work has already begun to rewet areas of peat habitat on the SSSI at Tadnoll and Winfrith nature reserve. 💙(1/3)

Dorset's rivers and wetlands need your help. 💧❗

Just £50 in donations will build a leaky dam, great for slowing and spreading the flow of water across the land, creating a mosaic of habitats for wildlife.

🌰 Red squirrels can remember several dozen hiding places for food, months after they buried it.

🌰 They can be left or right-handed, you can tell which by the way they hold a pine cone when eating. ~ Jack
