Ahhhh.

I’m guilty of retrofitting the future mythology (well, the second film) onto the first film. It works just fine as “this is just a bunch of weird stuff, don’t question it.”

And what was the alien that hatched from the jockey? Was it massive? Did it lay the eggs?

Porridge - Men Without Women (10th October 1974). A classic confrontation between Fletch and Mr. Mackay.

Optimus Prim is a completely different character. Not against it, though.

Tonight’s reading. CARBON AND SILICON by Mathieu Bablet.

Absolutely incredible book, following the (long) lives of two robots, and how they navigate a world that isn’t ready for them.

Beautiful art, a clever, intricate story, and some sequences that I’ll be thinking about for quite some time.
The cover to the book, showing a robot head connected to all manner of wires and machinery. Page. The two robots watch the sun come up. The sky is a beautiful reddy orange. Those same two robots. This time walking across a horizon, the blue cloudy sky reflected in the water beneath them. A busy city scene. People hustle and bustle as vehicles try and navigate around them.

Watched it in a packed cinema maybe ten years back. Everyone else there seemed to know all the words like it was a sacred text. Phenomenal experience.

I’m so sorry. And you’re absolutely right.

Wrote a full form, five issue comic series to see if I was able to. Shared it with friends every step of the way.

Those friends are going to help me get it made, by drawing, colouring and lettering the whole shebang. I am both nervous and excited.

Sweet Jesus. Thank you for posting.

(Prompted to pitch in the first place from a post on Twitter. Probably should’ve said that earlier.)

Out of this mess, found a little gang, who help keep this old man’s wheels on the track.

This is all very “why I went to play in Saudi” by Jordan Henderson, at the same time as his new club were greying out the rainbow armband he wore as Liverpool captain.

This is a good game.

I have an English degree and boosted a major publishing house’s share price, and saved a high street retail chain from closure.

If a Mickey Mouse degree lets you create actual Mickey fucking Mouse, it’s probably easily as good “for the economy” as business studies.

*deep sigh* Again, I have an English degree and have contributed rather extensively to the British economy, including writing a show that pumped £10 million into Wales. But the stupidity is the point here, of course.

Badenoch and Co see education only as a means to a massive income in some soul destroying career.

Devoid of imagination and the power of knowledge they view life entirely through the prism of the CV.

My advice always is to study what interests you and the rest will follow

For me - and I’ll keep stressing that, as you’ll find your own way - write some shit. Anything.

I wrote some comic scripts for my pal *just* to make him laugh. No expectation of him finding time to draw them. But I loved doing it.

I’ve got a note file on my phone with just bullet points of ideas they occur to me. Screenshots from books I read. Anything and everything goes in and eventually something bubbles up I can’t shake. Could be months later.

Then all (!) I have to do is write enough that I can’t bear wasting it.

Get some pencils and draw the fruit bowl? Work out how to play a tricky song? Paint a space marine? Do a four panel comic based on something that’s happened today?

I got paralysed until I heard “perfect is the enemy of finished” - just make stuff, then make it good later.
