"if the government subsidises something it means it is not working". Examples: electric vehicles and health care. What about $31 billion in US government subsidies to the oil and gas industry? Hhhmmm. Hypocrite.

The US Commander in Chief should be dismissed immediately because he is really, really fat. USA: get your act together. #Hegseth #idiocy

Can we find out: a) who at Dalhousie hired these consultants? b) how much Dalhousie is paying them? c) what have been their recommendations to senior management and Dal board?

Just to clear the air a little.

Ever heard of the Nous Group? A consulting firm that desperate universities hire to help with cost-saving and restructuring? Turns out they are actually vampires who parasitize tertiary education: drive.google.com/file/d/1_1Fk...

Move the UN General Assembly to a small island state.

Check out the recent data buoy coverage and how poor it is over the Scotian Shelf.
dougieocean.bsky.social
Yes. Correct analysis. The lack of data, and the lack of plans to invest in data collection is quite astonishing given the level of political discussion. Don't trust consultant reports that are based on little to no data.

I've always wanted one. Now's the perfect time 😂

So destructive. Can't write proposals, can't bring in funds to the University. Can't prepare classes. Can't advise students. What happens when you have a Board of Governors full of Corporate CEOs, CFO, COOs, VPs, CPAs and managers: none with any expertise in the core business of a University.

The reputational risk to #Dalhousie University from its misguided and ill-considered lockout of Faculty is massive. A glance at the Board makeup, mainly corporate types, makes me worry they may have no idea what makes a successful University, what Faculty do, and why.

Who would want to start working for #NOAA under the current regime? How do you replace 32 years of experience overnight?
dougieocean.bsky.social
Convenient for Republicans to say "don't politicise tragedy". But this article from April about experienced #NWS early warning manager from San Antonio, #Texas forced into early retirement by #chainsaw cuts to #NOAA demands accountability in the face of the #flood tragedy. tinyurl.com/yyhxveef

Yura has over 32 years experience, spending more than half of his career at the NWS Austin/San Antonio office.

Sounds like a plan made up by a bunch of retired guys at the golf club.

A recording that will put a smile on the face of all #Canadians and maybe make Maritimers shed a nostalgic tear or two. So excellent from start to finish

What's wild about this whole album is how many singers can sound like Joel Plaskett

Crazy good. This is my go to if someone puts a guitar in my hands and I can't think of my own name.

Those trying to understand the tariffs as economic policy are dangerously naive.

No, the tariffs are a tool to collapse our democracy. A means to compel loyalty from every business that will need to petition Trump for relief.

1/ A 🧵 to explain his plan and how we fight back.

In these days of doom and gloom why not resurrect some classic Atlantic Canadian political humour:

Agreed these mechanisms are addressed. But the big one, metabolism/ respiration, is usually not mentioned. Simply put: whales eat a lot of "ocean carbon": they have to, it's their function. But most of this carbon goes straight into the atmosphere. It seems to be a blind spot. Don't understand why.

"a deceitful and highly discredited so-called journalist who has made a profession of peddling hoaxes"

SO WHY WERE YOU SHARING SECRETS WITH HIM?

(And why could the TV reporter not ask that?)
dougieocean.bsky.social
Has everyone forgotten their basic biology? Whales, contrary to sharks and fish, eat carbon in the ocean, metabolise it to move and stay warm, and then pump it into the atmosphere. The carbon goes the wrong way!!
Whales are really great but not for reducing atmospheric CO2😂🧪
