Trump is demanding the DOJ hand over $230 million to compensate him for investigating ties between his 2016 campaign and Russian operatives and for searching Mar-a-Lago for classified documents in 2022. His appointees will decide whether to approve the claims.

There are no plans to rebuild, no permits, no signs of weatherproofing for a construction project begun just before winter, no indication that the history or the paintings or the artifacts in the East Wing were preserved. There is only the destruction of the People’s House.

Trump’s ballroom isn’t the work of a man who plans to pack his bags and get on a plane to Florida in January 2029. He's not generous enough to build something to benefit the country and presidents to come. He’s building the ballroom for himself, and he plans to stay put to enjoy it.

Trucks tore into the facade of the East Wing for Trump’s vanity project, destroying the historic House that belongs to the people. The president claimed the ballroom’s construction wouldn't touch the East Wing, but like most things that come out of Trump’s mouth, that was clearly a lie.

Despite the shutdown, the administration has found $172 million to buy 2 Gulfstream private jets for HS Secretary Kristi Noem. The initial request of the department was for $50 million for a single new plane. The DHS called the new purchase “a matter of safety.”

Unlike Mexico, which borders the U.S. and which accounted for 10% of U.S. exports when the U.S. stepped in to help stabilize its economy in 1994, Argentina is not geographically close and accounts for less than 0.5% of U.S. exports.

Trump suggested to reporters that the U.S. might also buy Argentine beef, saying such a purchase would help bring down prices in the U.S. But with Argentina having undercut U.S. soybean farmers in the Chinese market, U.S. cattle farmers met this suggestion with anger.

The US signed an “economic stabilization agreement” with Argentina’s central bank, offering extraordinary assistance to Argentina as its economy under Trump ally Javier Milei plummets. The agreement commits the U.S. to $20 billion to prop up the Argentine peso.

The Republicans allowing all of this to happen need to figure out why. I’m sure privately some of them are feeling terrible, but unless and until they grow a spine and stand up and speak out and put a stop to these desecrations— the blame for all of his can be laid at their feet.
