Started the book Männerphantasien by Klaus Theweleit (Eng.ed. Male Fantasies 1987), a study on the psychology of the members of the proto-fascist paramilitaries that later formed the Nazis & around pg. 100 he lists subconscious fears, he found these men most often had & it checks out. Eng. in alt.

have encountered this too and my working theory on it is that ppl who aren't gay or trans usually aren't terribly worried about becoming so, but poly (ugh) is something they could theoretically also do. like all freedoms, it is also a threat
