I use my phone/screens to sooth myself, when I get stressed by the environment, so maybe I'm not a good judge

I'm logically opposed to capitalism, so that's a good way of turning my thinking around! I don't have to be productive to be valid

I think you're right, on a logical level. But I think I still struggle with internalised ableism. I don't feel useful; it's also a capitalism thing, I think - I sort of think I have to be productive to be useful?

Physically, I *used* to be fit and able to help people - and mentally, I could do... Stuff.

I've been thinking about community.

I've withdrawn from my local Quaker meeting - basically, I don't feel I have anything, physical or mental, to offer a community.

I don't know what to do with that

I can't do MHAD and stuff; it feels disingenuous when mentally ill people are basically treated like someone who should be locked in an attic/distress is minimised

Apparently, it's Mental Health Awareness Day, but I can't help but feel 15 solid years of scrounger rhetoric has made a mockery of it.

If you don't accept that mental illness is real and often profoundly disabling, then you're stoking continued ignorance. No accommodation can be made with that.

'Love your neighbour' is the theme for Quaker week.

I get the sentiment, where it comes from, and where it wants to go; but we have to think really carefully about asking oppressed people to love someone who is oppressing them
