I think the romanticized aspect was more around the whole “team of misfits” and their improbable cohesion over 5 seasons, but what makes The Wire a durable banger (for me) is how it accurately showcases how hapless and generally shitty at their jobs police tend to be

Some members of Bsky leadership clearly held these views already, but we need to look at the company’s behavior overall — defending anti-trans figures, suppressing Palestinian voices, being publicly combative with its user base over these things — as a concerted strategy to avoid regime punishment
