I am pretty sure the general public has no idea how much black #bears love eating dandelions. Here is a very happy bear enjoying the never ending supply.

How do Churchillians live with polar bears?
The Polar Bear Alert monitors town and resource officers chase bears out. Problem bears go to 'Polar Bear Jail' for up to 30 days before being relocated up the coast. Bear guards are employed to keep tourists safe. No bear has died since 2013. πŸ»β€β„οΈ 9/10

Why does Arctic sea ice matter?

Arctic sea ice is more than a platform for polar bears and other species to live, hunt, and rest on, it's the basis of the Arctic food chain and the driver of the whole Arctic ecosystem. Learn more: pbears.org/4oMh0JU 🌎
It’s that time of year in #Churchill Manitoba. #Polarbears are gathering waiting for the ice to show up in the bay. Check out explore.org/livecams/pol...

"Pat, why do you carry that ridiculous 600mm lens on long hikes?"

Buddy, I can see mountains reflected in the eyes of a trailside pika.

In #Jasper National #Park. Mushrooms were so amazing this past week. Hydnellum peckii has a lot of different names. Some call it Devil’s tooth.

This video is from a guest on my tour this week. I was busy taking stills. This is very much a wait for it video because the cutest part is at the end. It was absolutely magical to be able to watch these polar bear cubs and their mom just going about their day on the tundra in the rain. πŸŒΏπŸ¦ŠπŸ»β€β„οΈ

A caribou dropped by for a visit on my hike yesterday. On the barrens of the Bay de Verde Peninsula, Newfoundland, Canada. #hike #wildlife #backpacking
I am crazy in love with one simple potted plant in my backyard that I want to live in. Perfect pink petals I want to sleep in. #bloomscrolling #flowers #pink #garden
Also kind of wild and prickly but smell really good. #wildflowers #bloomscrolling #rose

It's #WorldBearDay! Did you know that Manitoba, Canada, is one of the only places in North America where you can find black bears, grizzlies (barren ground), and polar bears? All three can be spotted near Churchill, though I've only seen two so far, and all my black bears have been in the south. 🌿🦊

Guess who just came back for a visit!!
This time mom and baby were together. This would be her kitten from last year who will soon be forging off on their own. For now, though the kitten is still hanging out with Mom as she patiently waits for him to finish exploring my driveway. 🌿🦊
