Incidentally, I have found long ago that playing with semantics is not a good look and “enlightening” people is not as helpful as just stating truth with personal observation and opinion.

Our System is a blend of both a Democracy & Republic.
It is a republic because people elect representatives to govern.
It is a representative democracy because the power is ultimately derived from the people through those elections with checks on the majority's power.
