Oh COME ON?? At least pretend 🤦🏽‍♀️

Our phone data, & privacy, being sold & now this??

"A corporate lawyer who has worked for Big Tech played a key role in picking a former lobbyist for Facebook & WhatsApp as one of Europe's most powerful privacy regulators."

Big piece in POLITICO asking about the independence of Ireland's process of appointing people to its Data Protection Commission. There is deep unease in Brussels about Ireland appointing a former Meta lobbyist as Meta's watchdog. Now questions about who was involved.

"Through their own negligence, Fianna Fáil have given us a presidential election with an asterisk — the last thing that any state needs at a time when democracy across the world is being undermined."

This week's column. Fair warning, the first few paragraphs are me saying I told you so.
Surrealing in the Years: Fianna Fáil once again aggrieved that their actions have consequences
Jim Gavin’s catastrophic campaign was predictable, but the Taoiseach couldn’t predict it.

"There is a lesson here for me, for my team, for the people of Ireland that if you put your head above the parapet and you dare to speak out and give a rational opinion that is based on evidence, this is what we will do, we will take you out, and this is really a very serious point in the campaign."

Just hours after the deal - as in January - Israel shoots at Palestinians waiting to return home.
Before any next step, member states must ensure that Israel honours the ceasefire.

Basic bee facts every day at 3pm.

# 188

Research indicates that the more plant species there are in a meadow, the more bee species are needed for pollination.
‘Rare species’ #bees often forage on and pollinate plants that the more common species of bees don’t.

In Budget 25, if I recall correctly, an amount of €18 BILLION was set aside for paying this year's climate fine.

And Paschal calls himself a sound financial manager!

Children's Hospital €600M now over €2.2 BILLION - and still not finished!

Red sky at night, strawberry delight (too obvious?)
thejournal.ie
No need for a red alert — the mysterious, reddish-pink glow which appeared in the night sky over Dublin Airport yesterday was not an unusual weather spectacle, nor was it the Northern Lights.

It did, however, help a lot of strawberries to grow quicker.

No, the mysterious glow over Dublin Airport last night was not the Northern Lights
It did assist in the growth of a lot of strawberries though.

Chrissy Ryan (83), says she is considering who to vote for but is likely to go with Connolly.

“I would have voted for Labour years ago but now it sort of varies from election to election and who’s running. I know a man would be different, but it is nice to see a woman lead the country."

"As a woman, I react, so obviously I'd have to think about that. Of course, I would have to reflect"

Shows great self awareness, conscious of her likely natural reaction and instead choosing to take the time to reflect.

I wish I had her calmness and consideration.
