And also, meat was never cheap, the costs were just heavily subsidized and the effects - poor drinking water, habitat loss etc was paid by other sectors

The Taoiseach creates a false choice here. Climate Action is about making life better, making energy cheaper, making our atmosphere cleaner.
But that requires leadership. We see none from this Government.

Just so we're clear, I don't oppose carbon tax, but when this is the attitude from our government about the issue as a whole, it's hard not to feel furious

I can assure you, he absolutely does not regret it.

Joe Brolly says he regrets a 'childish, crude and inappropriate gesture' made on a podcast while talking about the presidential election campaign.

It came after Fine Gael’s candidate Heather Humphreys said the video was 'very misogynistic' and was 'targeted at women'

And not remotely surprising. Years ago Joe questioned Sean Cavanagh as a man, but as most peope who know him will testify, he's very little of a man himself, and constantly tries to compensate for this by putting others down.

Ireland could build a new children's hospital every three years for the cost of the hospitality VAT reduction.

We could build a Galway sized luas system every year for the same cost

We'll invest less in the National Grid between now and 2030, than we will in €18 sandwiches in 2026

I would like to remind Fine Gael politicians that arguably the most corrupt politician in the history of the state, possibly Europe, is currently a member of your coalition government

Pretty sure Paul isn't usually in favour of choice, especially for women

Significant blow today for Stella O'Malley & her anti-trans advocacy organisation Genspect, as their spurious defamation action against Irish therapist, Leonie O'Dowd, is added to "The Gallery of Shame" by CASE (Campaign Against SLAPPs in Europe.) www.the-case.eu/gallery-of-s...

if one of our brave correspondents would like to ask Heather Humphreys why she refused to meet with disability activists during the Scrap the Green Paper campaign, it might take a little edge off the appearance of rank bias in their conduct during this election

Latest: "My disappointment about what I call Solos and you call Keepy Uppies is that I could only do ten. I used to be able to do a hundred."

- Catherine Connolly TD. @catherinegalway.bsky.social today.

Whoever put out the video of Catherine Connolly doing keepie uppies deserves an award. The apathetic 16 yr old came home from school saying that's as good as having a Misneach and he's annoyed he can't vote for her. #Áras25 #SpéirGhorm

I'm not even a Connolly Stan
amflynn.bsky.social
Connolly's tactic seems to be giving thoughtful responses to questions, including some fairly ridiculous ones, it must be said. Humphreys' main tactics appear to be shouting and saying 'I' a lot.

Progress is welcome. Rights still need delivery. We need long-term investment in personal assistance, accessible housing, and timely assessments that are publicly provided.
