This.
Banning social media, and indeed the anti-social use of scramblers and mopeds, will not solve anything.
“A ban does not provide the clubs, the youth workers, the safe playgrounds, the links to their families and friends in the offline world that might nourish and support children.”

Well said by Noeline Blackwell from the Children's Rights Alliance.

For the record - Ronda Rousey v Gina Carano is not "the biggest super-fight in women's MMA history".
It's a sad, influencer boxing-style cash-grab by one has-been and one never-was, and it further taints Rousey's undeniable legacy.

Aside from the work I do on sport, I've been wandering around Europe for more than 20 years interviewing politicians, business people and academics, and the only time this ever comes up is when someone in an Irish think tank says it's a thing.
It's not.

Tips - sluta ge era röster till rasistiska (SD, KD, M, L, S) partier. 👍
76% (!) är emot tonårsutvisningarna. T o m bland SD-väljarna är fler emot (42%) än för (36%). Detta är en politisk jordbävning, som överrumplar Tidö+S

Paul Brady must be one of Ireland's most underrated songwriters - not the easiest man to work with by all accounts, but a tremendously skilful musician and songsmith. This has been on repeat in my head for days.

A colleague from the Philippines still lives under similar laws to what Ireland had. None of us is free until all of us are free.
I think even a lot of Irish people don't really think about how insane it is that divorce was only legalised in Ireland in 1997, and homosexuality in 1993. An unrecognisable country (in almost all ways for the better) from the one I was born in.
Ireland went from the mid 1970s to the 2000s between 1997 and 2000.

How people save their money is a direct result of the boom-and-bust policies pursued by Simon and his pals for the last century, and as the politicians have never learned their repeated lesson, small savers will remain risk-averse. 👍
Simon Harris' new savings scheme: Ireland has billions sitting idle in low-interest accounts, so the Government’s new investment strategy must focus on building a culture of long-term investing, not just more saving, writes Nick Charalambous.

If you want to know why AI based on LLMs get things wrong, here's a perfect example. This post from the @nytimes.com is factually incorrect, but it remains up. LLMs will scrape it and present it as correct information, and the wrong information will continue to propagate.

"AI detectors" are themselves AI, and yet are endlessly trusted by people on here if they say that a newspaper article is AI.

AI detectors are snake oil. None of them reliably works. And UK broadsheet are not yet using AI to write articles. No, that link to the deal you found doesn't prove it.
Just because I keep seeing those "I checked this piece and it's written by AI" - this is an old article of mine, before AI was available. So could we not?
