Ok, ok. The shock has settled down. PayGap.ie is now an award winning website, taking home the Social Impact award from the Analytics Institute. I'm thrilled and humbled, we had an amazing night at the gala, and you could have knocked me over with a feather when they said I'd won it.
Lads. LADS. What is happening?!!
Treated ourselves to a stay at Kellys a few years back and kept running into Aiden Gillen and Camille O'Sullivan. Every time we were seated for a meal, we were put beside them, kept running into them in the corridors. They were lovely and we had a few chats over the course of the weekend.

One thing that's always wild is discovering that some massive company or organisation is just quietly using my data and research from PayGap.ie, treating it as a trusted and reliable source. Obviously, I hope that it is, I try very hard to ensure the data is accurate and all that, but it's still mad

Hey so did you know that the solution to the motherhood penalty is to just not penalise mothers?

I don't want to make light of the research, it's just so frustrating that the answer is so obvious and yet we still struggle to have it heard by those in charge.

Denmark’s generous child care and parental leave policies erase 80% of the ‘motherhood penalty’ for working moms
Two researchers found that Danish government benefits do not fully offset moms’ lost earnings. But they do help offset lost income for working women with kids.

Despite overwhelming majority male workforce, Iarnród Éireann actually has a pay gap in favour of women, coming in at -12.94%. This is probably partly due to the fact that most women seem to be in the upper middle and upper brackets of pay in IE. 13% of their workforce are women overall.
In its lastest recruitment drive, Iarnród Éireann has “urged” women in particular to consider becoming train drivers.

Candidates must be willing to work various shift patterns, including weekend work, and the salary scale can reach €69,000.

Ok, so I can't show all of it because I'm not giving the internet my address, but I want to take a moment to say how absolutely gorgeous the packaging from @ciaraioch.bsky.social is, before you even get to the art. Makes getting post feel special ❤️

Looking forward to hanging these!

Watching an episode of The Rookie and it really underlines for me that the problem is, as it has always been, the guns. The premise is that president is visiting and the episode is all about all the shutdowns and endless secret service and security because someone wants to shoot the president.

Maybe this is just me but grown adults shouldn't have heroes, scientific or otherwise. It should be possible to find someone's work useful to understand the world without elevating them to hero status or putting them on a pedestal.

I was wearing hi vis when a motorist drove into me. Passengers in the car got out to tell me the driver was really upset because she didn't see me. I didn't have much sympathy as I was picking gravel out of my hands.

I was visible. She didn't look.
The hi viz will work great when I'm hit by a motorist looking at their phone.

The people yearn for a president who can constantly show up kids at the sports they do for PE. Catherine Connolly stays winning.
It’s not just football tricks that President Catherine Connolly has up her sleeve – she can also score an impressive backwards basketball shot.

The horrifying realisation that if time travel does exist, it won't be the scientists coming back, it'll be the 3078 Bezos equivalent plus whatever side piece he has, just like the Titan submersible or the Blue Origin flights. It'll be rich losers who pay to travel.
