I've decided to overlook the first 45 minutes of that first half and focus on the Watford equalizer.

A bit of a sickener that Jebbison scored but I have enough football miles on my clock to expect such karmic occurrences.

First eye test in three years and, miraculously, there's no change in my eyesight. My tired, strained, overworked eyeballs are just fine, it turns out.

It also means that I'll have these glasses (i.e. this face) for another few years.

Help 🙏 I’m moving into Ch2 of my PhD by PP, which focuses on the shift in practice embodied by my memoir Negative Space. If you know of any academic writing which references my work, I’d be very grateful to be pointed in its direction. @lilydunn.bsky.social @minxmarple.bsky.social please share? #phd

I have a rule that if I mention Leonard and Hungry Paul to someone that hasn’t read it, I buy it for them. Copy #18 now winging its way from @kirkdalebooks.bsky.social to Alice in Muswell Hill after a nice book chat on Saturday night 💛

Of the last twelve authors who have won the Booker Prize, only two (Marlon James and Douglas Stuart) have published another novel since their win. Obviously very recent winners skew the stat, but still a surprising figure to me.

Worth a read (though you may need to register to read it for free):
That difficult second Booker: the long-term impact of a win
In the week since its victory, 2025’s Booker winner David Szalay’s Flesh experienced a boost of 1,441% in week-on-week sales, according to NielsenIQ BookData.

I'm a lapsed veggie but had a lovely lunch in Glas with my wife on Saturday.

Then we went to the Nat Gallery before a stroll around in the crispest autumn weather.

Nice buzz around town too. Busy but not quite Xmas mad.

Have been in Dublin City almost daily for 30+ years & still love the place.
