Is it too early to ask: What if Congress never meets again? What if the President just decides by himself, with the help of private donors, what he wants to spend money on or not?

“Israel's nearly 60-year control of the West Bank, along with the settlers, is the darkest curse hanging over the nation; the original sin that has inflicted the deepest political, social and moral damage.” Lead editorial in @haaretzcom.bsky.social

The Pentagon is pissed about "A House of Dynamite," and claims its missile interceptors have a 100 percent accuracy rate.
There's no such thing as a "100% accuracy." That's aimed squarely at Trump, so that he'll go ahead and dump money into "Golden Dome."

I did a TV hit on NBC yesterday regarding the lawless and congressional unauthorized strikes on boats in the Caribbean and it immediately followed a segment on the tariffs.

There’s a through line between the two.

The energy we need is this suburban dad standing out in the street -- barefoot with Blackhawks pajama pants on -- screaming at the masked goons to get the fuck out of their neighborhood.

“Nobody has heard of” Lesotho, President Trump joked, to the laughter of lawmakers. He’d just cut aid to the country.

Weeks later, he announced a 50% tariff on exports from “the denim capital of Africa.”

Today, Lesotho is under a state of disaster.

I recently traveled there for @bloomberg.com:

Two big opposing rallies in Hungary today.

Orban’s pro-Russia one got fewer than 30k.

His rival Peter Magyar got more than 200K.

America is very upset about migrants and drugs coming from Venezuela

So America is trying to destabilize the Venezuelan government

Which would create a lot more migrants

And open up more space for drug traffickers

Pretty good summary from the Economist's Daniel Knowles of the challenges in assessing Trump risks as the America Crisis escalates.
"Just because Mr Trump has labelled some migrants and even leftist opponents as “terrorists” does not mean he will use the armed forces against them. But right now it’s not clear what, besides his own inclinations, might prevent him." | The Economist

After Poilievre's Conservatives voted against establishing a national food program, Poilievre went to a $1700/plate fundraiser in Montreal while he forced his MPs to work all night for a marathon voting session. He then showed up (drunk?) at around 1AM. #cdnpoli
Can we compromise and call it the Trump-Epstein Playroom?
I thought we were calling it the Epstein Ballroom?
Don’t you mean the Epstein Ballroom?

Wells Fargo scammed millions of people by opening fake accounts. The Trump Administration just reduced a former Wells Fargo exec's $10 million fine to $0.

Trump is making life more affordable for Wall Street executives — and more expensive for everyone else.
It would seem that Trump read Tom Clancy’s ‘Clear and Present Danger’ (well, watched the movie given that he doesn’t read) and thought the good guys lost.
East Potomac is a public course where average folks play, not a swanky country club for the rich. Likely just an effort to save a few dollars since course is relatively close to White House and isn’t charging the fees that a dump would charge.

I thought it was to be called the Epstein Ballroom?

Someone — not me — coined that a few days ago, and I agree that we should all be using it.

Retired intelligence analysts confirm what the political scientists are telling us — and what the world outside is telling us — the goal of these people is the end of law, the end of democracy, and the end of a recognizable republic.
