The challenge they’re facing is that we’ve overfished the oceans, not regulations! Dredging will make things worse!

Tens of millions of people have died from Covid.

Every country should have responded with record investments in public health infrastructure.

Instead the US government is putting us all at greater risk of more catastrophes by firing hundreds of top scientists whose job is to prevent outbreaks.

Look, I’m glad the democrats’ message about healthcare being traded for billionaires’ whims is getting through, but we do need to be clear: the shutdown is about whether the U.S. is allowed to be anything other than a police state

In addition to destroying ICE and DHS, we should probably start thinking about a reparations framework. If they keep records on which officers conduct arrests, we could make individual officers liable to pay damages to their victims.

A thing I believe to be true about men like this is they are hetero sexual but not hetero romantic. They want to have sex with women, but they don't want anything else to do with us and hate us. They feel we have somehow annexed all the sex, which rightly belongs to them.

One of the most satisfying things you can do as a human being is look at someone who's telling you what to do and go "Who's this asshole?" There are worse things to base a political philosophy on!

Do I have this right? We’re not paying our troops *and* we’re sending them to the Middle East?

“Optimizing harpies” is misogyny for “women who dare to think their thoughts, feelings, and sexual satisfaction should count.”
euthyphro.bsky.social
All of these videos boil down to the same thing: men feel entitled to the satisfaction of their desires and view women as unjustly gatekeeping their bodies which are their due. Fuck them, but never in the fun way.

Men would rather watch hundreds of hours of creepy men on YouTube than treat women like people.

So...if a Russian asset wanted to sabotage the American government's outbreak surveillance system in preparation for biological warfare against the US population, how would their absolute dream celebrate-victory-with-vodka-and-caviar outcome look different from what just happened at the CDC?

BREAKING: Friday night massacre underway at CDC. Doznes of "disease detectives," high-level scientists, entire Washington staff and editors of the MMWR (Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report) have all been RIFed and received the following notice:

I’m bringing back #SaturdayWithCamus because I have decided it would bring me great joy, in this time of plague and fascism, to put Camus novels into the hands of underserved teens.
Many fedgling moralists in those days were going about our town proclaiming there was nothing to be done about it and we should bow to the inevitable. And Tarrou, Rieux, and their friends might give one answer or another, but its conclusion was always the same, their certitude that a fight must be put up, in this way or that, and there must be no bowing down. The essential thing was to save the greatest possible number of persons from dying and being doomed to unending separation. And to do this there was only one resource: to fight the plague. There was nothing admirable about this attitude; it was merely logical.

“individuals participating in a public expression activity in this area are subject to discipline and/or arrest” is a delillo-level dystopian sentence

Found this just incredibly depressing, more than anything.
An easel sign reads, “UCLA

Individuals participating in an event or a public expression activity in this area are subject to discipline and/or arrest.
