So now the Administration are saying that the mass firing of CDC scientists, including many responsible for preventing outbreaks, was an “error” and many will be brought back.

Whether by intention or incompetence, dismantling public health will kill people.

Tens of millions of people have died from Covid.

Every country should have responded with record investments in public health infrastructure.

Instead the US government is putting us all at greater risk of more catastrophes by firing hundreds of top scientists whose job is to prevent outbreaks.

They have fired the staff of the CDC’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report and 70 Epidemic Intelligence Service officers, who are disease detectives that respond to outbreaks around the world.

I cannot emphasize enough how dangerous it is to dismantle our disease surveillance infrastructure.

Bad news: Anti-vaxxers have been given leadership positions at US health agencies and are doing everything they can to take away vaccines.

Good news: Despite all their spin, in reality they have been too incompetent to do anything effective to restrict vaccine access in any meaningful way so far.

There is no evidence that breaking up the MMR shot would make the immunization safer or more effective.

The reason why the acting CDC director wants to separate the MMR shot is to discourage people from getting vaccinated by creating larger hurdles.
@HHS_Jim
Thank you
@POTUS
 for your leadership.

I call on vaccine manufacturers to develop safe monovalent vaccines to replace the combined MMR and “break up the MMR shot into three totally separate shots.”

Re: Insurance, HHS has stated that Medicare, Medicaid and other government health programs will continue to cover the shots at no cost, and AHIP, a health insurance industry trade group, said that private plans will continue to cover all CDC-recommended vaccines.

With misinformation coming directly from federal health agencies, it's more important than ever that each of us are active public health advocates and spread awareness about the availability and importance of COVID vaccines to our family, friends, and communities.

Anti-vax officials are hoping that the “shared clinical decision-making" stipulation causes confusion for individuals, pharmacies, and states, who may misinterpret the updated guidelines to mean you need a doctors presciption, therefore lowering COVID vaccine uptake.

The new CDC guidelines recommend COVID vaccines under “shared clinical decision-making,” meaning people should first consult a medical professional.

But this doesn't mean you need a doctor’s appointment, pharmacists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and registered nurses can do this too.

Several states have still been requiring a prescription for COVID vaccines as the CDC had not officially adopted the vaccine advisory panel guidelines yet despite the panel meeting over two weeks ago. That should now change.

You’ll now be able to get an updated coronavirus shot in every state without a prescription, according to the American Pharmacists Association.

CVS and Walgreens have stated you won’t need to attest to any underlying conditions and the questions will be removed from their online booking system.
