Sadly, the push for anti-mask laws is back. The Alabama House has passed a bill that would criminalize protesting in a mask without a doctor’s note.

Anti-masking laws have never been taken up by the U.S. Supreme Court and have had mixed results in lower courts.

US measles cases this year already exceed the total for the whole of 2023 and 2024 combined, and it is only January. Yikes.

The UK has lost its measles elimination status, the World Health Organization has announced.

Vaccine disinformation is a worldwide pandemic that is killing us.

Pro tip: If you are attending a rally or action, wear a N95 mask & bring extras to give to others.

High quality masks can serve triple-duty: they prevent you and others from getting sick from airborne viruses, they keep your face warm in the freezing cold, & they can protect against surveillance.

In response to the United States’ withdrawal from the World Health Organization, California announced that it has joined the WHO’s Global Outbreak Alert & Response Network, the first state to do so.

The United States has officially withdrawn from the World Health Organization.

This is a shameful move that puts both Americans and people all over the world at greater risk from disease outbreaks, which require international collaboration to contain.

The EPA says that it will now ignore health benefits and lives saved, and instead only factor in business costs when making new rules on air pollution limits. This is so reckless and make us all sicker.

With RFK Jr again further reducing access to vaccines, your regular reminder that now would be a good time to restart wearing a high quality mask regularly again for an added layer of protection from airborne diseases.

If this makes you mad…turn your anger into action.

There are articles of impeachment against RFK jr. in the House.

Sign the petition, call your rep, send a quack-o-gram, and share with LITERALLY EVERYONE YOU KNOW.

This isn’t going to stop unless we make it.

Antivaxxers like RFK Jr love to cherry pick policies from countries like Denmark so they can falsely justify reducing vaccines in the US, while ignoring context.

If they really wanted to learn effective health policy from Denmark, they would be pushing for universal single-payer healthcare.
January 5, 2026 at 11:57 PM
It’s official: RFK Jr has officially reduced recommended childhood vaccines from 17 to 11, removing universal vaccine recommendations for RSV, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, dengue and two types of bacterial meningitis.

This reckless contravention of science is going to kill people.

PSA: It’s not too late to get your flu shot, as the record-breaking flu season will continue for several months.

While this year’s shot is not a perfect match for the current strain, it will still reduce your chances of getting infected and help protect you from getting seriously ill. Do it now!

So… they cut funding for research into cures for cancer but are going to spend loads of money *checks notes* running a whole other country?

I’ve seen enough. The Rangers should play the rest of the season in Central Park.

Pro tip: If you are attending a crowded event in winter, wearing a well-fitting mask like an N95 can serve double duty by keeping your face warm and keeping viruses away.

(yes, transmission can still happen outdoors in crowds or with close and sustained contact to someone who is sick).

Make masks FIT and FREE! As we experience a record breaking flu surge and the ongoing effects of COVID, now would be a great time to ramp up efforts to make high quality N95 masks free and widely available. Really wish free mask distribution was a regular feature of progressive events for example.

As we experience a huge surge of flu cases, a reminder that the widespread usage of masks at the start of the COVID pandemic wiped out a strain of the flu.

If you haven’t been masking up lately, now would be a great time to restart.

PSA: You don’t owe anyone an explanation about the health reasons why you are wearing a mask.

Badgering others about the tools they need to survive is stigmatizing and ableist, and should have no place in decent society.

In a moment where RFK Jr is taking away life-saving vaccines and spreading health misinformation on an unprecedented scale, making comments that stigmatize other important layers of public health protections like mask wearing is not the play.

In 2026 let’s normalize masking for public health.

If we could admit that with healthcare being gutted, vaccine access restricted and previously eradicated diseases coming back… having an extra layer like a respirator makes good sense.

Let’s also normalize not mocking people who mask!
December 28, 2025 at 5:18 AM
It was reprehensible when people mocked condom usage at the height of the AIDS pandemic.

It is just as depraved to mock those wearing masks to reduce the spread of airborne viruses today.

Whenever someone takes any kind of step to protect public health, they should be applauded, not mocked.
