Two side by side photos of a woman wearing a costume of gold and turquoise armour inspired by traditional Islamic armour with a connical helmet and a halo mounted on the back of it. Two photos of two different pieces side by side. On the left is a baby triceratops puppet made from latex, posed perched over a tree branch with her mouth open. On the right is a model wearing a prosthetic makeup with horns growing from her head and long curly red hair. Seeing Ms. Rachel say exactly what needs to be said to Obama is so damn refreshing
Dear President Obama,
I saw in your statement you said "Israeli families" & "the people of Gaza."
Palestinians have families, too.
This kind of language contributes to dehumanization. Dehumanization is part of what caused so many to stay silent as 20,000 children were killed in this genocide.
I've sat with wonderful Palestinian families from Gaza. They look at their children just like we look at ours - with all the love & hope in the world.
Love,
Ms Rachel

And who fucking cares about adding some anachronistic elements? I think they totally work in-world and speak to the ever-relevance of Greek myths. Does Hadestown being based around blues music also make it a sleight against the myths it’s based on? Be for fucking real.

Also, Greek mythology is FULL of humour and ridiculous situations. That’s part of what makes it so interesting! That it’s not just stuffy and overly serious.

Also also if your only take on Aphrodite in Hades is that she’s just a flirt then I fear you’ve not understood the character

I love my new laptop. It has amazing features like not overheating when I so much as think about opening Z-Brush.

a friend of mine in antifa told me that antifa's headquarters is SHEIN and if the company fell the whole network would fall

I would be fascinated as to the development of Yasuke and Naoe as protagonists. I guess with the development time they would have been conceptualising that at a time where diversity was still largely "in", then releasing after far right rhetoric and anti-wokeness was completely normalised
evilcleverdog.bsky.social
Yeah I think we've had multiple long conversations about this and I agree, it's so obvious Elise was supposed to be playable, at least as a dual protagonist with Arno (iirc this was like, semi-confirmed by those reports)

devs would push for solo female and nonwhite protagonists and get pushback from execs, especially for mainline games. (Freedom Cry being a DLC and Liberation being a side release on a dying platform) So it seems like a miracle we got Evie, Aya and Kassandra at all.
evilcleverdog.bsky.social
And only having characters like Kassandra and Eivor if they can have a male counterpart, too. Kassandra was supposed to be the solo protaognist. And Aya was supposed to be a dual protagonist with Bayek.

When all the awful stuff about Ubi came out, I remember there was also talk from devs about how

Yessss and I LOVE the character creation system with multiclassing/true customisation at the forefront

They should've had a Halloween ep of Voyager where Tom Paris explains the ancient earth tradition of "trick or treat" to an incredulous Seven who says something like "that is an inefficient means of aquiring candy," & he makes a holodeck recreation of a suburb so the whole crew can trick or treat 🎃

This would’ve slapped but Ubisoft took the coward’s route and capitulated to racists. A shame.

Extra ironic considering they’ve had two previous Assassin’s Creed releases where you play as a Black character who kills slavers and frees slaves.

SCOOP: Last year, Ubisoft cancelled an Assassin's Creed game set during Reconstruction. Was to feature a Black Assassin who, among other things, fought the rise of the Klan

Sources: Leadership nixed it over concerns re: U.S. political climate, backlash to Yasuke
