I've started to abandon the weather/cat/coffee prompt, though I still come back to it when I'm feeling uninspired. Anyway, it just feels good to have a regular writing practice again, even if it's just a personal journal. But I'm hoping that it will eventually lead me to more creative inspiration

only missing a couple days when I was traveling, and when I was sick. When I was traveling I kept it up with a handwritten journal, which I then typed up after I got home (so that I could include it in the same book with the rest of the entries). As I've gotten more comfortable writing my thoughts

It's chilly and I'm wearing the cat's favorite warm poncho so he's decided that it's cuddle time, preventing me from my AM routine of sitting at the typewriter with my coffee. So I figured I'd take the opportunity to give an update :) i've kept it up and written a journal entry almost every day,

Here's the beginning of my first journal entry, which I've decided to call the Weather, Cat, and Coffee report 😊 I want to share because it feels so good to be at it again, and I'm feeling hopeful that this will jumpstart my writing/art making again. But I probably won't keep sharing them after this

9/12/25

67 degrees, going up to 79. September is more of a summer month than ever..
The cat is sleeping on the kitchen chair next to me this morning.
The noise of the type writer doesn't seem to bother him at all.
Iced coffee again today, it still feels much to warm for hot.
This Smith-Corona type writer is such an elegant machine, I'm happy to be giving it some use after all these years of it sitting on a shelf. I will try to use it to keep a daily diary. The weather, cat, and coffee reprt, with any additional editorializing as it occurs to me. Just clacking away on the keyboard feels good. It feels like I'm actually MAKING something with my hands, unlike typing on the computer, which feels maddeningly ethereal. Everything that I type on the computer has equal weight in my mind, whether it's an email or a post or a personal essay, it all feels the same. every creative work might as well be a repair request to my landlord, they feel equally satisfying to finish work on.
I'm going to try and listen to music more, too.

They should've had a Halloween ep of Voyager where Tom Paris explains the ancient earth tradition of "trick or treat" to an incredulous Seven who says something like "that is an inefficient means of aquiring candy," & he makes a holodeck recreation of a suburb so the whole crew can trick or treat 🎃
