Vicpol are the third rail. Denying them anything at all, at least outside of EBA negotiations, has long been unthinkable for both sides of politics. (There's a tacit assumption that the electorate thinks of Vicpol as basically sacred, which sits oddly with the fact they struggle to recruit.)

I am a vocal cheerleader for Victoria in general and Melbourne in particular. As a polity we have done some amazing things, and of these we should be proud. But also we seem incapable of saying 'no' to cops.
You might think that this doesn't affect you. Maybe not now.

I have observed how the police have been applying the 'salami technique'. Slice by slice, our rights are being infringed.

Do you think many Americans predicted what is currently happening to them?

Look for “The 9pm Edict” in your podcast app.

You can probably guess who the douchebag is. Hint: It’s not Peter.

Fellas, normalise saying "I love you" to your mates.
Every phone call. Every goodbye.
You have no idea how rare it is to hear it.

An apartment similar to mine just sold in my building for the exact same price i paid 2.5 years ago.

Dont let grifters convince you that lmi waivers for 1st homeowners are pushing prices up.

5 apartments have sold in my 10 apartment building in the last 2.5 years - all of them are now owner occs
Some owner-occupiers just bought the mirror version of our townhouse for an amount that (adjusted for inflation) is about what we paid 8 years ago.

Victoria gets shit done.

I was happily paying $30 for a CD when I was working for $6.56/hour as a sales assistant. Fucking crazy.

No wonder CD burners and Napster took off.

In 1996 I paid $58.00 for a live CD of my favourite band (Japanese import) and that just makes my head hurt now.

I had no idea that slapping a Weyland-Yutani patch on my gear-pack would lead to so many conversations. Young mate serving food just told me about his encounters with everything Alien.

Me: “Oh yeah the crew of the Betty are the basis of Firefly”

YM: “Firewhat?”

Me: “Mate, get a notepad”

Yeeeew, gang. I'm going to be in Newcatle until Saturday. What do people who know the town recommend a non-drinker do there for fun? (I will be doing a dawn swim at Bogey Hole; that is a given)

…Is the perfect strategy to have.
I’d love more coders to take that attitude because a lot lives in their layer but at least designers can keep the focus.
Accessibility is related to usability. Both are aspects of design. As a designer it’s our literal duty to make it work
I didn't start a specialist, and I don't have "accessibility" in my job title today.

I've just spent the better part of a decade asking "how do I make this more accessible" in everything I do, which just so happens to be in product design.

That curiosity makes my job far better, more meaningful
