which reinforces our current ideas of what's okay for men to wear and what isn't. Especially when the director said this would be "the most historically accurate version of the Odyssey". Nothing in the film looks even close to historically accurate. I have never seen the Mediterranean look so drab!!

I have lots of thoughts about the costumes cus like, I don't actually think the costumes should be 100% historically accurate. That's not what costume design is about, it's about expressing character. But I do think that the designs should be inspired by the real sources, not warped ahistorical slop

And yeah an amount of this has got to be people pushing for what audiences "expect" (with those expectations already being based on anachronistic sources) BUT those expectations and the things they're based on are ALSO informed by patriarchy and what is and isn't acceptably masculine etc

The lack of colour and adornment on both men's and women's clothing in the film also reflects this too. Think the push towards "clean girl aesthetic" reflecting a desire for lack of expressiveness, colour, individuality and different gender expressions.

This is the large domino, with the small domino being some random quack in the UK in 1998 trying to undermine the existing MMR vaccine so his business partner can swoop in with his own. Instead he lost his work credentials and now kids are dying needlessly all over the world, so great job everyone.
Austria loses its WHO status as measles-free, too, together with Armenia, Azerbaijan Uzbekistan and Spain. This comes as no surprise, considering the rise in numbers in recent years and the decline in MMR vaccine coverage
