Playing heists in TTRPGs *sucks* because to make it interesting your plans have to go awry. So you're forced into a fail-state. I know many games handle this with flashbacks, but heists are an expression of skill and competence, and for me the scrambling to recover from near-failure is dissonant.

I think I just realised my ideal heist is researching, planning preparing... and then not really playing the heist - I'd be happy with dice rolls heavily stacked in the players' favour (good prep), only playing scenes where there's a problem to solve.

I gave in and started watching ep 1 last night and actually, there's a lot of plot going on so it's quite well-paced. Not a chance in hell I'll finish watching by episode 2, though, so I'm going to fall back on this!
