We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues. We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right.

Now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues and have new tools, we are going to be able to safely relax the restrictions in most cases.

In a few weeks, we plan to put out a new version of ChatGPT that allows people to have a personality that behaves more like what people liked about 4o (we hope it will be better!). If you want your ChatGPT to respond in a very human-like way, or use a ton of emoji, or act like a friend, ChatGPT should do it (but only if you want it, not because we are usage-maxxing).

In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our “treat adult users like adults” principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults.

The hardest part about this is I don't know how to help the other cats grieve. I just don't know what to do to help them process. Or how they process. I can smoke weed, cry, and scarf ramen but they cant do any of those things.

Atreju, known as Goose to some, is taking a turn for the worst tonight. 15 years I've had this wonderful cat and his sister Amelia, since they were 3 weeks old. I hand fed them as kittens. Tonight, my fiance hand-feeds him as a senior cat. It wouldn't hurt so much if it wasn't worth it.

Can barely take care of myself, I can't do the things I love, my beloved cat of 15 years is dying, everything hurts, and I'm so fucking tired and sad.

And my oldest cat seems to be on his way out, so while I'm spending all this money making sure I have working limbs and no cancer, the guilt of seeing him decline and not being able to immediately treat him because of my own Med expenses is breaking me down.

So I get to still be in constant pain, still taking pain meds that are ineffective and could cause worse side effects used long-term, and HR is STILL behind on getting our new insurance set up and I'm already getting billed for things we were promised would be covered.

Oh hooray. The pain specialist canceled on me again, no reason given other than "this pain is not appropriate for our office specialization." Which tells me fuckall and I still have to wit til November to see any of he other specialists I'm working with.
