The word “between” comes from Old English betwēonum, meaning "in the space separating two things.” It traces back to PIE dwo, and through Persian, Sanskrit, Greek. A word of exile, tension, and resistance. A word for thresholds.

The story explores how imperial structures mythologize nomadic heritage to erase border identities. Through a fictional Pan Turkic–inspired world, the novel questions who gets to define history, how memory survives erasure, and whether the desert—so often framed as silence—can instead speak.

[Blurb]
In a crumbling empire between the desert and the sea, a thief and a prince swap places for a single day, only to uncover a buried conspiracy that forces them to confront the magic, myths, and monsters that silence the past.

One is the desert—merciless, masked, empty. Red.
The other is the sea—royal, restless, drowning. Blue.
A moment is all it takes for the waves to kiss the shores. This city has two faces. So do they. #litfic #SilkRoadFantasy #BetweenTheSandandTheSea

I've started a new (written) DnD campaign and despite having barely started, I'm already so unwell about it.
Here's our /extremely normal/ party...hence the hashtag for them: #TheCuriosities

The only kind of climate change I can approve of 😌
Two big red cats circle a terrified hog encased in ice. The cat's tails are flames and melt the ice partially, exposing some pig butt and giving it a singe. "Uh-oh Step-Pig, I'm Stuck...!" ok I made the joke for you so you don't have to. Hot ham smoke emits from the pig and spells "BECOME AN" and melted ice on the bottom spells "ICE-FREE ZONE"

Hehehe sounds like fun! I also collect rat plushies! Sometimes they're a little scary too, but that's just how they are.

"Nama Mithras" - Latin
(Namās Mithra - Sanskrit for Adoration to Mithra)

Yes, I visited the #LondonMithraeum again to bask in the glory of Mithra. This was an old piece when Vidaar assumed the role of Mithra in The Witches of Pompeii artbook.

Thailand! But whenever someone has to guess (I usually give them a hint by saying my country starts with a T), somehow their first choice would always be Tibet, then Taiwan, THEN Thailand.

Genuinely curious, how obvious is it for someone to make out an American in a crowd of foreigners? This wasn't the first time someone in the UK asked me if I was an American (actually am not 😭). I hope I wasn't being too obnoxious... Could have been my accent. Do I even have an accent?

Oh! His name comes from Bidār (Persian for ‘awake’), with a Indo-Iranic prefix his father added, "Vi" (along the lines of separation, apartness, the between). So he's literally named for that space between two worlds!

True true, like LeGuin said, a lot of academic or theoretical writing hides behind complex jargon and performative intellect. My favorite kind of books combine both poetic honesty and academia.

Throw back to Vidaar's birthday piece last year. I think this is one of my favorite works till date! ✨
