I also bet the Warriors for the championship at 20-1. Reasons:

1) Curry could have an MVP season with the hand slap rule change. It is certain he will break the record for 4 pt plays.

And in the playoffs… unguardable.

Worst case scenario, Kuminga goes in a simple flip for a 3&D wing like Herb Jones.

And the Warriors with Herb Jones… are a championship squad.

3) No one seems to be connecting Giannis to the Warriors, but I am absolutely certain it’s being discussed. Giannis wants out, he wants Curry, and the Ws are uniquely positioned to land him.

I make the odds of it happening at significantly better than 20-1.

And if it does happen, it’s over.

3) There is a significant chance that the Warriors will be a much better team after the Kuminga trade. More on this in my next post discussing championship odds.

2) They are undeniably better this season. Horford and Post completely transform the team’s spacing. If Melton is back healthy and either he or Moody move Podz to backup PG - only spot where his defense isn’t a liability - that will also be huge.

I have reconsidered this and bet Warriors over 46.5 wins. Reasons:
1) If they don’t go over they don’t make the playoffs. That’s unacceptable to the franchise this year - they’re all-in. So Kerr won’t sacrifice wins over the JK showcase…

Solid over bets aren’t based solely on talent. There are several complicating factors to this team’s regular season record:
1) age and injuries
2) Rest
3) no need to chase reg season wins
4) the first half will be dedicated to a JK showcase
5) Major mid-season trade

The last couple seasons have completely exposed Shanahan’s system. You can’t win in the NFL with crap lineman, no matter how many superstar skill players you have.

You can’t even keep your QBs healthy.

Continue to struggle appreciating Podz’ game. He was the slowest non-center on the floor last night, as well as being dwarfed by the Blazers long wings, and it showed in the score.

Interested to see his plus/minus if he’s restricted to the second unit this season.
