Can’t say too much about my job these days but international affairs (especially Asia) is my specialty. I love films, novels, and history. Opinions are entirely my own. He/him

Every Republican President of my lifetime has ended their term with a higher unemployment rate than when they began while every Democrat has finished with a lower unemployment rate than they received - and yet the public almost always rates Republicans higher on the economy.
Maybe you’re right, I guess I’m misremembering it. It’s really long, though, right?

Gallego: "How can I negotiate? The president is in Asia for 5 days. Johnson is basically keeping the House out until January to protect pedophiles. So who am I negotiating with right now?"
I remember really liking that one. That’s the one with that really long conversation by the window, right?
Maybe. But I was there a few months ago and ran into a huge Stop the Steal protest against the charging of Yoon. Lots of the slogans and signs were stolen right from the J6 and post-J6 right wing here. “Finish what we started” and the whole deal. So it felt a few years behind.
Made my daily calls to Senators. Told them to hold the line on the shutdown, fight for healthcare and against fascism!

The current work stoppage in the House is really unusual for a non-midterm year. It isn't about the shutdown; the House cast votes in October 2013 despite one. And it started earlier — about when Grijalva won her election. www.pbump.net/o/remember-t...
Remember the House?
There is a certain rhythm to the way in which the House of Representatives conducts its business. The House begins each year with a few weeks of voting before cutting out for an extended Easter break....

True masterpiece. A work of art.
This is amazing. And it’s truly the stuff of nightmares.
So, ok, they’re 9-5. Now what?

There are already food banks/depositories in every district & a ton of Democrats have been doing events to support them, but if no one besides a staffer posts about it, no one knows about it.

Even with a massive support, it's not replacing $100 billion in SNAP. We need a functional government!

May I present a former clerk to Justice Gorsuch.
Yes, though tbf there’s this kind of shallow thinking and willful ignorance of second order consequences on almost every Republican attack on social safety net programs. Never mind that there are thousands of military members on SNAP as well.

So many American immigrants left dysfunctional countries where random stuff like this would happen and here we are in 2025.
Tbf Zero Dark Thirty was an odd kind of government propaganda. It had some true elements but was actually CIA obfuscation that was narratively structured to try to make the then-current President look naive and simultaneously justify their own past malfeasance.
Woody Johnson’s a crook and an ass and the league is worse for having him in it.
