I did a search for "racist" in this piece and found nothing, so right away I knew it wasn't an "unsparing judgment."

Roberts has taken a torch to the legal victories of the Civil Rights Movement. Any assessment of his legacy has to start by calling him one of the worst racists in modern history.

Re-upping:

Excellent assessment of John "Roger Taney" Roberts.

In @harvardmagazine.bsky.social , by Lincoln Caplan.

As careful, legally informed, judicious-minded writer as you're going to find. With an unsparing judgment.

Super duper ideally you'd annul his entire presidency by constitutional amendment. Void ab initio under Section Three would also be nice though.

Thanks! We agree. There should be Articles introduced daily, if only for the sake of the Congressional record and posterity. Goodness knows there's no shortage of material.

The American people deserve to know the depth of his corruption, tyranny, and treason.
flyingpace.bsky.social
This is a climate in which *Supreme Court dissents* routinely go viral! Imagine what reps could do with Articles of Impeachment. And it would whet the public appetite for justice, give the sense of something in motion. @aoc.bsky.social says, "Get caught trying." Where's that approach on impeachment?
flyingpace.bsky.social
CI's proposed Article of Impeachment for treason is great. Skeptics are badly underestimating how powerful it would be for Dems to keep introducing such articles. They could be angry, funny, provocative! Even in "failure," it would be a way of seizing the narrative through quality political theater.

"What we need to do is get message discipline. That the remedy for tyranny and treason is impeachment. Period. Full Stop. That’s all you need. And we can take it from there."

Pritzker hasn't even called for Trump's impeachment. He hasn't called the regime unconstitutional or illegitimate, or mobilized others in his party to take that stance.

Love your leaders less. Demand they do more.

I saw myself as maybe all in for J.B. Pritzker

But I am losing faith, rapidly.

Police state fascism in America is bigger than Trump. It's backed by Democrats just like Republicans. And it's not going anywhere

Note: it's not even curfew yet.

State police just started pushing people off the business park corner. Here in the road, a brave group of demonstrators are attempting to hold their line.
flyingpace.bsky.social
Love this - can you please include support for impeachment? That really seems to be the decisive factor - pushing for the regime to end now, not just promising justice in the future.

(AOC would retain her top marks, as she’s the only one on this list to have called for impeachment this year)

Great point:

"It's an entire political ad, from a major Democratic politician, that is exclusively defending trans rights. Has this ever happened before? I haven't had my morning coffee yet, but none are coming to mind."

I wrote a little about some of the little details you might have missed in this video and why it hit me so hard as a trans person this morning:

A damning and revealing statistic.

And another reason to saturate the discourse with demands for impeachment. Make this something reps cannot ignore.
highcountryrose.bsky.social
There are a lot of representatives talking about how bad and illegal the Trump administration actions are. @repcohen.bsky.social is the only one to use the word impeachment in the last two weeks.

When people wonder how Epstein continued to have powerful friends even after everybody knew, consider that a Nazi salute followed by blithely starving children and cutting off their life sustaining medicines wasn’t a deal breaker for anyone in power positions.

I’ve started watching the film “I’m Still Here” and its depiction of the Brazilian military dictatorship shows how much bleaker it might still get. We can’t wait another 16 months.
flyingpace.bsky.social
I don't see the call for impeachment, which would follow logically from all he's saying
flyingpace.bsky.social
3/ P.S. "The obstruction of powerful racists" is a fixed condition in American life. If we wait for it to disappear before we seek justice, we'll be waiting forever. There's ALWAYS some version of "the GOP-controlled Congress" or "the corrupt SCOTUS." If we use them as an excuse, we're full of shit.
flyingpace.bsky.social
2/ So many appeals to past and future justice, so few pundits & outlets & leaders & orgs willing to say that Trump must go NOW, must be prosecuted NOW, his fascist movement broken NOW—that the obstruction of powerful racists is a reason to pursue justice NOW, not an excuse for delaying the pursuit.
flyingpace.bsky.social
1/ The main dividing line in the anti-Trump coalition has always been between those willing & unwilling to demand he face justice NOW.

MLK knew moderates always want justice at a "more convenient season." No wonder we currently hear so much "If only Biden had—" and "When Dems are back in power—"

Yesss does this mean 50501 will regularly incorporate “Impeach, convict, remove“ into its messaging? I really hope so! Hope you can convince some other No Kings partners to do this too. Thanks for all your incredible work!

Also why: The People want him out of office. We do not have kings in America.

Impeach, convict, remove. Be very clear with your demand.

We need message discipline.

When Republicans are pre-butting a pro-democracy rally like No Kings and making shit up left and right to scare people, you know they're losing and in panic mode.

Pedal to the floor.
flyingpace.bsky.social
And you still haven’t called for impeachment. You’re still collecting a fat paycheck for reading the news along with us and explaining what we’re reading like we’re 12

They are cooking the books on job creation.

Now they are rigging death numbers so no one knows how many people die because of their attacks on vaccines and science.

I'd start by pressuring elected officials to stop recognizing the authority of the court. Supporting officials who promise to fix it once in power and to refuse to recognize any of its rulings since at least 2015 as valid. And investigate, charge, prosecute, and convict its extremist members.

Good thread
juliusgoat.bsky.social
It's dangerous to say, but since it is true, it's more dangerous to not say: The Supreme Court of the United States is not a legitimate body. It's been deliberately and systematically captured by ideologues on behalf of an anti-Constitutional project, and its extremist members have been bribed.

“Democratic reps support impeachment for treason” is an objectively newsworthy story that needs a brighter spotlight
flyingpace.bsky.social
No it’s not, so we need more pundits and outlets shifting from “Boy this treason is bad” to “This treason won’t stand, remove the fucking traitor.” Love the TN Holler and hope you’ll find that gear - esp as more and more reps get on board
