And their airport lounge access is weak. At LAX international terminal, they offer access to Virgin’s lounge, but almost impossible to get in there, even at off-peak times.

Earlier today, $JPM reported $14.4 billion in income for Q3, so I thought it would be a good time to call Chase and see if they were willing to lower the rate on my Sapphire Card, which renews soon at $1185 for the year for 3 cards. No dice, so card will be cancelled.

Ditto for me. My friends all seem to have survived the latest gutting, but JPL has gone from a place where people think big to where people focus on surviving the latest cuts.

Update: Looks like the peeps I know at JPL didn't get fired, but teams have been gutted and the people who are left are going to have to figure out how the hell to do what they do without the necessary staff that are now gone.

I literally just turned in a round of edits to my editor at Bloomsbury for my book about the founding of JPL and the Suicide Squad, and this is painful to see.

JPL has been responsible for some of our most incredible achievements in science, and this is going to set us back.

Yeah…was the mid 90s! His son, Ed, ran a bunch of restaurants on AMI near Bradenton, where I was a cub reporter chasing Tropicana and scammy banks!

How many other dogs in LA are asking WTF about all this rain?

I lived in Florida early in my career during the Lawton Chiles era. I’ll never understand how national and state Dems allowed this state to slip away without any fight!

I live near JPL and have several friends who work there. This is the 4th round of layoffs this year..a year that saw over 200 employees lose their homes back in January due to #eatonfire. This is just a travesty and we will all feel the impacts!

Holy crap. This is terrible.

The article states it's "not related to the current U.S. government shutdown". But of course it is: they are both connected by the GOP destroying everything good about this country from the top down and the bottom up.

It’s one of those rare days when the markets are open, but SEC is closed. An added bonus? Perfect weather for a hike with my pup!

Turtle walking on a Saturday afternoon! The latest LA exercise tend!

Yep. Just went to look at it now and it definitely shows it flat for April, but I totally remember it dropping by $60K.
footnoted.bsky.social
Didn't that happen back in April when those tariffs were first announced and markets tanked? If memory serves, my kid's 529 plan dropped by $60K in less than a month.

Yesterday, I sent a post out to my paid subscribers on what appears to be unusual options activity at Trilogy Metals, the latest beneficiary of a 10% investment by the Trump Admin. Sharing it here because it deserves more attention: www.linkedin.com/pulse/front-...
Front-running options at Trilogy?
Chances are that you never heard of Trilogy Metals before late Monday when the company announced that the newly named Department of War was buying 10% of the company for $35.6 million.

Interesting stat from @repmaxinewaters.bsky.social that 90% of SEC employees have been furloughed for the past week. "If the SEC cannot do its job in holding scammers accountable, it means hardworking people will continue to lose their savings to fraud."

Big congrats, Claudia, on this amazing news. Somehow we both managed to survive that POS newspaper we once worked for!

When I first moved to LA from NY a decade ago, I couldn’t believe this was actually a thing here! Thought the broker was kidding me!

Grew up in Brooklyn, but haven’t lived in NYC in a long time now. Still, I managed to score as a “Bonafide New Yorker” on @nytimes.com quiz! 🍕🥯

What's crazy is that I don't think planes can land at Burbank after 10 pm, so the fact that someone will be in the tower after 10 isn't much comfort. Last year, my husband got delayed in Denver and SWA said they couldn't land in Burbank because it was after 10 pm.

Sure. Rich people fly Spirit and Southwest!

My go-to airport whenever possible. Wonder if it has something to do with its location and the fact that it's in the home town of a certain Senator that is a frequent Trump target, @schiff.senate.gov

Will be interesting to see the options trail for $TMQ. A $2 stock up over 150% after hours on news that USG is taking a 10% stake in the company. Who wants to help me dig?
footnoted.bsky.social
No. Got that from someone who works at the SEC and subscribes to my newsletter.

Thankful for small things! A non-political OOO message from someone at the SEC: "Due to a lapse in appropriations, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission is currently closed. I am out of the office and expect to return to work after an appropriation has been enacted."

Not a teacher, but as a parent, this has grown like kudzu. I think my son heard it for the first time 3 weeks ago and now it’s multiple times a day!
