But the most harrowing one I saw live (via helicopter pursuit video) was a stolen truck and a really bad driver; so many cars were driven off the road, the tires on the truck blew, but he kept going and it was more intense than any wild car chase in a movie.

Watching car chases happen live on the news used to be L.A.'s favorite sport. I still haven't forgotten the guy who called his MOM after the cops started pursuing him and then she talked him into pulling over and letting them take him in. (I think he was just drunk, not someone who'd done a crime.)

JUST IN: The Republican Mayor of Fairbanks, Alaska’s second biggest city, lost re-election last night to a Democrat.

Mayor David Pruhs is a conservative who fought protections for LGBTQ+ residents; he made comments this year drew condemnation this year from Alaska Natives. He lost to Mindy O'Neall.
