There was article I read years back that focused on the fact that many nurses and doctors don't believe black women's scale of pain when they're in the hospital for any reason and will often not give them enough pain med to compensate. It's a documented pattern of internalized racist behavior.

FWIW incompetent men have always ended up getting promoted. Same with bullshitters who make other people do their work or steals someone else's work. Those are the kind of people who aggressively chase auhority and power. Proving they can exploit their lessers is probably a bonus on their resume.
