France Visa Free is a campaign group that would like every Briton to be free to visit France for up to 180 days in any year without the need for a visa. Our goal is an arrangement that mirrors what every French citizen gains on visiting the UK.

I had trolls like this on Twitter. Brexiters and Vatniks that stalked me for years. I'd get their accounts suspended, they'd make more.

This chap;
@andrewhesselden.bsky.social

Is experiencing this same thing. Only the trolls have followed him from Twitter to Bluesky.

Jesus fucking christ.... look at the state of you...

You sound unhinged.

Leave the guy alone. He's a Pro European. He wants his FOM back... who gives a shit?

You're acting like he's a war criminal.

Andrew and I have been subject to this abuse for several months . At times it’s relentless all because we have the audacity to call for a more liberal mobility arrangement that is more flexible than 90/180. We are not anti EU, we are not Brexiteers, we are not nationalists or populists .
francevisafree.bsky.social
90/180 is a barrier that affects personal lives as well as business.

Absolutely love this from @jonnyhibberd.bsky.social :

“ Barriers to Europeans travelling across Europe, whoever they're imposed by, are a bad thing.”

I don't care what anyone says. Barriers to Europeans travelling across Europe, whoever they're imposed by, are a bad thing. The Berlin Wall was a bad thing. Restrictive visa regimes on Ukrainians were a bad thing. This is a bad thing. Leaders in EU and non-EU European countries should sort this out.

From Sunday, travelling into Europe gets tougher for Brits.

New EU border rules mean fingerprint scans, photo registration and longer queues.

This is the real-world cost of Brexit - more hassle, more red tape, more delays.

Demonstrating the benefits of a close relationship should be a no brainer … I only wish the likes of the constant critics recognised this.
francevisafree.bsky.social
There is nothing exceptionalist in trying to seek change.
francevisafree.bsky.social
Sorry to hear about your cost but as I say it is legitimate to seek a change.
francevisafree.bsky.social
Yes to your first question and your situation is irrelevant to a call to change rules.
francevisafree.bsky.social
No one is seeking to break laws . It is perfectly legitimate to seek a change in laws and arrangements.
francevisafree.bsky.social
If you follow our posts carefully you will see we are not seeking to stay more than 180 days . Moreover, life is not as simple as a binary choice. There are multiple examples of how personal interests transcend borders . 50 years of membership brought people and countries closer together .
francevisafree.bsky.social
You consistently conflate different & separate issues.
francevisafree.bsky.social
No and you are totally misinformed.
francevisafree.bsky.social
Very true . We have seen it before . Their posts show they have not understood the issue.
francevisafree.bsky.social
We certainly do not blame the EU . This situation arises as a result of Brexit. As for granting of rights I would remind you that EU nationals enjoy greater and more liberal travel freedoms when visiting the UK than a UK national visiting the EU. The former benefit from a 6 month visa waiver.
francevisafree.bsky.social
We are not talking about settling in another country or living there full time or seeking naturalisation . These are separate issues and irrelevant to the changes we seek.
francevisafree.bsky.social
Totally irrelevant. As things stand to enter the EU some countries are annex 1 others annex 2 . More importantly almost 50 years of EU membership has seen lives develop that transcend borders.

And to some extent, I agree with Katy Lam that the Brexit withdrawal agreement does need to be reopened or added to.

But not to remove rights; instead:

➡️ To add to it and protect *more* rights for *more* people 🇪🇺🇬🇧.

It’s the human thing to do.
andrewhesselden.bsky.social
The devastating logical conclusion of this kind of argument is that anyone daring to cross a border (including British people) deserve to have all of their future national insurance rights or safety nets removed.

It’s why EU membership mattered.

France Visa Free also recognises that change could be achieved at a bilateral level or through changes to the way France operates its long stay visas.

France Visa Free exists to lobby the UK government to reopen negotiations with the EU to resolve the 90-in-180-day problem. If they are unwilling to rejoin the EU, the Single Market, or restore mutual Freedom of Movement, then we urge them to engage with the EU to find new visa-free solutions.

The 90 /180 rule & problem.
The 90-day allowance is a single, cumulative limit that is shared across a rolling 180-day period and all 29 Schengen countries and not a simple per-visit allowance. This restriction effectively limits continuous or frequent travel for third country nationals.

A passive visa where the award of the visa is simpler, quicker & less bureaucratic and more akin to a visa waiver would not break the Schengen Treaty. Indeed Sénatrice Berthet in France seemed to suggest as much in her call for change to the Visa Long Séjour Temporaire.
francevisafree.bsky.social
We recognise no Schengen country can unilaterally change Schengen rules but EU member states do have control over long stay visitor rules .Where visas exist their application process can be made more passive.
