Schenectady native John Sayles had a birthday yesterday. He called Hoboken home when he made BABY IT'S YOU in 1982, which we were delighted to release on Blu-ray earlier this year. Get our disc and see a brand-new, in-depth interview with Mr. Sayles.

Ad for the July 1985 "Summer Music Film Fest" in Venice, which was the LA opening for FABULOUS STAINS. "A gritty, driving tale of a disillusioned, unswervingly ruthless teenager," wrote Kevin Thomas in the @latimes.com.

Also on the bill was our friends @seventy______seven's DREAD BEAT AN BLOOD.

The High Council at @seanfennessey.bsky.social's the Big Picture podcast, particularly @chrisryan77.bsky.social, helped us sell out of WELCOME TO FUN CITY over the weekend.

Spurred on by that, we're pressing up another run of the 2-disc Blu-ray set, now available for preorder: tinyurl.com/4rs2hh94

From the trove of the Paramount Archive's FABULOUS STAINS photos, Jim Youngs, earlier a WANDERER and later a FOOTLOOSE villain. Diane Lane starred with Youngs' brother John Savage in CATTLE ANNIE AND LITTLE BRITCHES. Youngs is likely playing Corinne's boyfriend and didn't make the film's final cut.

My late father adored TELL THEM WILLIE BOY IS HERE and JEREMIAH JOHNSON. They immediately came to mind today w/the news of the passing of their iconic leading man Robert Redford. As FCE, we must also memorialize Mr. Redford w/one of his beloved, made-in-Fun City vehicles: 3 DAYS OF THE CONDOR. RIP.

1983 is, IMO, Cruise’s best year: RISKY BUSINESS and ALL THE RIGHT MOVES + part of the OUTSIDERS ensemble.

Time for something a bit different. Checking out what's been described as French Streets of Fire, which is funny because they both came out in '84. And it's based on Philly's own, David Goodis' novel Street of the Lost, so bonus points there.

Rue Barbare AKA Street of the Damned (1984)

"Morrissey’s camera adores this pouty, affable, casually idiotic stud, as it adored Joe Dallesandro in FLESH. Like Tony Manero in SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER, Spike is an agile, shimmering, maybe only medium-sized fish in a small South Brooklyn pond." SPIKE OF BENSONHURST, @screenslate.bsky.social.
