Thanks! I had the archiving of RCNs in mind, but analogous to NESCENT too. Only a drop in the bucket in comparison to those two programs but it's something!

I don’t exactly how to phrase this, but like… is autism that bad???? Like, why is it such a source of fear??? Of course there are challenges but you can be autistic and have a rich, fulfilling life! Many people do! I don’t understand the preoccupation.

A couple of nights ago a helicopter crashed onto a freeway in Sacramento and managed to hit a patch without cars. The cars all stopped in time. Folks jumped out and found out that all three of the passengers were alive. The helicopter was on one so they lifted it off.
Wow.

Today my @nytimes.com colleagues and I are launching a new series called Lost Science. We interview US scientists who can no longer discover something new about our world, thanks to this year‘s cuts. Here is my first interview with a scientist who studied bees and fires. Gift link: nyti.ms/3IWXbiE

The 2018 farm bailouts were $20B, and the gov't had the money for them. (Funds for that bailout came from the USDA's Commodity Credit Corporation).

This time? The gov't is shut down, USDA has no budget for it, and they're asking for $50B.

EXCLUSIVE: In her first interview all year, Susan Monarez, CDC director for only 29 days, tells me why Trump/RFK fired her and where this is all headed.

The CDC director is an “inherently political position, but that doesn’t mean that it has to be politically compromised”, she tells @nature.com.
Exclusive: ex-CDC director talks about why she was fired
“I would never do that, as a scientist,” Susan Monarez says of being asked to approve changes to vaccine recommendations without knowing the details.

A lot of people think that every international student admitted means one fewer spot for domestic students, when the opposite is more likely true - the tuition revenue international students bring allows public universities to provide substantial discounts to domestic students, improving access.

Hello, I'm an evolutionary biologist in a film. I can identify any species from 30 base pairs of DNA, including human-alien hybrids. I quote Darwin and Gould ad libitum to compensate for my lack of emotional depth. Inexplicably, I'm unable to correctly pronounce 'genome' or 'drosophila'.

Hello, I'm a historian in a film. My office is a massive space filled with Persian rugs, leather couches and massive wooden bookcases. There's a Tiffany lamp on my desk and an original Gutenberg Bible on a stand next to it. I am wearing a tweed suit with five layers.
