Today was politically less than ideal (shitty mayor reelected, wonderful progressive highly qualified woman not elected, hundreds of local residents voting for a neo Nazi or a sex criminal) but I self soothed in a hammock in balmy 27c weather so I suppose it could have been worse.

I'm in NZ so have extremely limited influence. My mother cheerfully shared with me that I'd probably be horrified to learn that she would have voted for Maria Stein so I fear my CC enthusiasm is wasted there.

Well maybe, but I don't feel it. There are lots of American parents who don't use religious tradition as the reason for chopping bits off their babies. They seem to just do it so the baby will resemble his needlessly mutilated father.
