It could be glorious. We could play some fun football. We might end up with a local boy done good at the top of a club back on the up.

I also worry we’re at risk of falling into billy big bollocks thinking that worsens an already fragile atmosphere.

Wilshere is a big name. He has no track record. And it seems like part of the attraction is that we don’t have to pay a release clause.

Added together, that feels like…lots of pressure, not much margin for error, at a club whose fan base - I love you all, I promise - kicks off pretty quickly.
