The prayer this priest is saying as they bury Joyce is the exact one I said yesterday to bury a real person. Always glad when TV gets it right. #JordanWatchesBuffy

Some belated Buffy posting:

- Buffy's fur-trimmed coat in Crush does not go well with her hair
- oh for the days when a public school could have an art class like the one Dawn is attending in The Body

In Texas, there’s gas stations every 30 miles or so. In Alberta, it’s not unusual to see signs that say “last gas 200k”

I was going to say - Kenya, Sudan…..

LGBTQ+ inclusion is very much still a difficult and divisive topic but women bishops are everywhere man
godwelcomesall.bsky.social
I mean very obviously they’re fine with my “female headship” (I do not conceive of my ministry in this way, but to use this article’s terminology) and our witness of LGBTQ+ inclusion is evident so maybe it will make no difference but it might!

I have a massive Nigerian immigrant population in my parish (not all of them were Anglican in the old country but some of them were) so I will be interested to see how they take this news.

This is the thing about Canada I think a lot of people don’t get - that I didn’t get before moving here - is that it is a bunch of urban islands separated by land, not water. It does *not* take long driving to find yourself absolutely in wilderness.

Fun fact: despite the enormous land mass, the population-weighted density of Canada — basically the density experienced by the average person — is the same as Denmark and close to the Netherlands.

Canada and Denmark are 3,000 people per km², while the Netherlands is 3,400/km².

Chicago priest Fr. Larry Dowling describes procession to ICE facility: “No one had the courage to speak directly to us. No one from Homeland Security could stand in the presence of the Monstrance holding the Blessed Sacrament. No wonder. Evil is repelled, recoils in the presence of Christ.”

Noblesse oblige is worse than true equality but better than "I earned it, I built it, it's mine, go get yours/if you don't that's on you"

People will scoff at virtue signaling and then wonder why today’s billionaires don’t build museums, libraries, hospitals, and universities like Gilded Age ones did.

"Why aren't progressive Christians..." sounds a lot like "Why isn't anyone talking about..." Tbh

We are. We have been. For literal centuries. Y'all just won't listen, believe us, read, follow, show up, volunteer, donate, or support our work. 😑

This is like the woman I met recently at curling wearing a toque that said “Jesus loves you” on it. She told me “my sister gave it to me ironically but I wear it sincerely”

I am a default collar person (partly due to my piety, partly because I am lazy about fashion and it gives me a bit of a uniform) and it always confuses people. I'm not uncomfortable with it though.

But the tab is so much more comfortable! I've switched to exclusively tab and I highly recommend to all pastors and priests of any churchpersonship.

I *do* identify as a priest, and I *do* find it hilarious how many people think the RCC started ordaining women w/o them noticing.

I log into Zoom meetings and they're already recording, they've already enabled their AI minute-taker, and nobody asked me how I feel about everything I say in this meeting being on the internet, in unsecured databases, forever.
godwelcomesall.bsky.social
And that's just in words! With people I actually know and whose permission I can seek before sharing their story! But somebody can film me running through an airport or in line in a store or sitting on a patio for literally any purpose and we've just normalized that.

I am always mindful, in my own word-based social media use, that the people I meet and interact with are real people, some of whom might not prefer to have their stories shared on Bluesky. I anonymize where I can, and very often leave it in drafts because I can't anonymize it enough.

In addition to the many problems he raises with a culture in which everything is television, I would add that our constant surveillance/filming culture is a problem. I did not consent to become content fodder for you! You aren't paying me to perform in your video!
