So nice to see Laporte fully back to form lately

The fuck??? I don't watch that much track cycling, but I do watch enough to know that there is absolutely zero non-corruption reason they should not take Bibic...

I hate that we're not getting to see either of the men elites EC jerseys this year 😭 The jersey looks so nice

Yep, I saw. Good for all sides, I think. He gets one more year to develop (which he deserves, given he missed a lot of time due to injuries) and can earn a chance in a WT contract in a team that needs points and can build him a very favourable schedule.

They should make a pillow fighting photoshoot with those. That'd be very fitting 😃

I can't speak for my entire gender, but anecdotally, I'd be 100% up for talking WoW on a date 😅

That is true, but it has nothing to do with what nationality riders they sign. They don't have to pay less taxes for French riders than for non-French ones.
goldbluebirdie.bsky.social
I am exaggerating a bit here of course. I think especially when it comes to youth development, teams of the riders' home nations should still be the first and best option.

But when it comes to the highest level of the sport, I think internationalizing teams is a good thing.
goldbluebirdie.bsky.social
I really don't get this sort of take. French riders are being signed by great international WT teams. Isn't that a good thing?

And from the perspective of French teams: there are plenty of international riders to sign. You know, like most other countries' teams do. Book your staff an english course

In my defense, I'm pretty sure I remember posting at the time that while I am rooting for Van Empel, I consider this just as boring 😅

Oh, don't worry, I'm not giving up on cycling. But I am giving up on Lombardia. Unless Vingegaard miraculously shows up to that in Tour de France shape, hangs onto him, sits on him, and then somehow pulls off a 10% chance 2-up sprint win, Pogacar is winning every edition until he retires.

It used to be that I had some hope that maybe, just maybe, someone else might have a chance. Maybe his gap wouldn't be big enough, maybe someone would hang on.

That time is long gone. It's not an opinion or prediction to say in the morning that he'll win. It's just a fact. So why bother tuning in.

Kelderman would have won if he started. I've been saying this all season. But Visma didn't bring him 😭

Skjelmose will be there, who's probably gonna win comfortably. I don't think Schiffer can start, as Visma have cited problems with getting his licensing done in time to race him this year already, or something. Presumably Nordhagen is his replacement.
goldbluebirdie.bsky.social
Nordhagen is starting in Guangxi and I'm curious how he'll do, so I'll watch some of those stages. And I'll be watching Holland just to see Olav as a bee one last time. But yeah, since the Vuelta, my investment has gone way down.

But I am very much looking forward to jan/feb already.

I think for no 29 they are going to wait for the Arkéa bust and Lotto/Intermarché merger (if they happen) and see if they can get someone there. If not, they can still promote Van Kerckhove or maybe even Rowe, if they feel like Van Kerckhove would benefit more from one more devo year.

My excitement level for Lombardia is about as high as the mariana trench

Yeah, except Küng is not being coached by Liam Coen
