Introductions.
Big fan of SciFi and Aviation art. But never actually gave it a go until I suffered a brain injury which left me partially sighted. Started with Bryce 5.0 before settling on Lightwave3d.
I work in a mundane job so relish the escape putting together an image can provide.

Sometimes the idea works others not so much. I'd forgotten how hellaciously tricky the Event Horizon is to light. It's so dark it drinks whatever light I throw at it. Still I'm happyish with the planet. I'll have another go later. Model by Russell Tawn. #Lightwave3d and photoshop.

A pure deuterium-deuterium fusion rocket would have an exhaust velocity of 0.063 C.

With a high mass ratio and a magnetic sail for propellant-free braking, a DD fusion starship could cruise at 0.29C.

There's a Star Man waiting in the sky...

More practice at people, I think this is my first ever attempt at a specific person in a finished image.

Nice, I've always thought this to be such an underrated movie.

After 3 movies and multiple redesigns, the 1982 Syd Mead TRON light cycle, with enclosed rider position…. Still the best. #SciFi #Movies #Art Now trying to think of a movie, where the redesign of vehicles or ships for the sequels ended up being better than the original… Nothing yet. Still nothing.
Original design and still the best. #SciFi #Movies #Art Syd Mead

I think I'm going to have to go this way, my idea is flawed. The shadows created by the 3d skull object are throwing the whole thing out of whack. All good though, learnt a little so not a wasted effort.

!! I'd completely forgotten about old Carmine the Bowler !! 😃

No I haven't. it's not something I've done before - I'll see what it's all about.

Removing the jawbone and fiddling about with light colour.

Absolutely no idea where I'm heading with this but it's been fun nevertheless. #Lightwave3 A skull model inside a glass ball with a high refraction level. Aiming for a death world kinda thing. Lighting it is a nightmare so may have to take it into Photoshop.

Two old "Vue" renders of mine.
The software was a mix of the brilliant and the infuriating, but it was REALLY good at atmospheric effects and lighting.

No offense taken, quite the opposite. Book covers were probabky my first real introduction to scif-fi art. Glad you like 'em. Cool titles btw.

How it began and how it ended, variations of a theme. I'm very pleased with how these turned out. Pretty much all #Lightwave3d with a little colur tweaking in Photoshop. #ScifiArt

The Terran Trade Authority series were science fiction art books published in the late 1970s & early 80s, created by British author Stewart Cowley using previously published paintings from sci-fi artists of the era, weaving elaborate fictional histories around the imagery. 1/3
