Introductions.
Big fan of SciFi and Aviation art. But never actually gave it a go until I suffered a brain injury which left me partially sighted. Started with Bryce 5.0 before settling on Lightwave3d.
I work in a mundane job so relish the escape putting together an image can provide.

I think I'm going to have to go this way, my idea is flawed. The shadows created by the 3d skull object are throwing the whole thing out of whack. All good though, learnt a little so not a wasted effort.

No I haven't. it's not something I've done before - I'll see what it's all about.

Removing the jawbone and fiddling about with light colour.

Absolutely no idea where I'm heading with this but it's been fun nevertheless. #Lightwave3 A skull model inside a glass ball with a high refraction level. Aiming for a death world kinda thing. Lighting it is a nightmare so may have to take it into Photoshop.

Two old "Vue" renders of mine.
The software was a mix of the brilliant and the infuriating, but it was REALLY good at atmospheric effects and lighting.

No offense taken, quite the opposite. Book covers were probabky my first real introduction to scif-fi art. Glad you like 'em. Cool titles btw.

How it began and how it ended, variations of a theme. I'm very pleased with how these turned out. Pretty much all #Lightwave3d with a little colur tweaking in Photoshop. #ScifiArt

Today's #Spacetober prompt is Moon, so here is the Moon! Digital #Art created in #Blender3d.

Digital illustration of the Moon. We see the lunar far side, with the Earth top left in the distance, and the Sun just behind it.

The Terran Trade Authority series were science fiction art books published in the late 1970s & early 80s, created by British author Stewart Cowley using previously published paintings from sci-fi artists of the era, weaving elaborate fictional histories around the imagery. 1/3

Here's an updated version of "They've Escaped!"

Building perspective adjusted, lots more spiders, (including some that are not so obvious), lighter spider textures.

My first experiment with animating a 2D illustration, 2023.

I wish I'd animated lights in the bussard domes, but otherwise I'm pretty happy with how this came out.
