I'm Rob, an illustrator, designer, and writer from the UK. With a background in graphic design, I now spend my time drawing spaceships, robots, and other strange stuff - either for myself or for indie games and publishers.

A poster, built in Blender, showing the industrial Funicular from the Manga, Akira. My illustration, Elk Island Light. An orange lighthouse floats on the ocean, at its base, tentacles extend in to the deep. My illustration, Deep Space Fleet. A page of brightly coloured spaceship sketches. My illustration, ISO Grid. 16 isometric illustrations of various little buildings. From a sci-fi noodle bar, to a Venetian palazzo.

Yep. First in York for a bar/music venue. Then in London, first for O’Neills, then All Bar One.

It’s reasonably quiet. There are a few different spaces to choose from. Some desks with a second screen. I’m in the most informal bit - so it’s my own fault.

Regardless… we must catch up!

Have you been down here? It’s very snazzy. We should meet up when they have their monthly creative drinks evening.

Nice that they have privacy booths for calls/Zooms/Teams etc.

Be fucking great if people used them.

When meeting new people, it’s important to let them know immediately where you stand.

We banned a guy on the Steam forums for repeatedly saying there were “too many women” in our game

So he flipped his positive review to negative

Still totally worth it

Emmeline Pankhurst founded the Women's Social and Political Union with her daughter Christabel on this day 1903.

Made in Manchester: Emmeline Pankhurst (1858-1928), born in Moss Side, founded the suffragettes, yet ended as a Conservative. Historians argue about whether her militancy helped or hurt the women's suffrage movement. She certainly raised its profile. 1/8

Heading to a co-working space today (got a free trial day), not sure if it’ll suit me but we’ll see. Oddly it’s in the building that, almost thirty years ago, I managed as a pub and music venue.

Going to be some odd memories today.

I think what's impressive about TRON is that, visually, it's still so much more interesting than any of it's sequels. It's crazy that they tried update this digital world by making it as 'realistically rendered' as possible. It's a complete misunderstanding of the original's charm.

I FUCKEN FINISHED!!! As always, it took me 2 months, but I got there in the end.
The final illustration of a pink silkmoth with beige and brown upper wings and vibrant pink lower wings. Oh, and an incredibly fluffy body. A close up showing the detail of the furry wings.

I painted this as one of three alien environments developed for Pillar of Fire; we focused heavily on using transformed scale to create an alien feel, while also being playful with colour and shape to keep things whimsical and enticing despite the strangeness.
A fantastical landscape snippet on a grey background, showing a magenta desert ecosystem with oversized fungal growths and impossibly steep hills; the ground splits and fractures like slate or ice sheets. The text label reads " ARID - scaled fungi - bacterial mounds - spiny land jellyfish"

Needing multiple streams of income to stay afloat is a societal failure not a personal one. You should be able to afford a comfortable lifestyle with one job. You are not lazy.
