ASR (Advanced Sensor Redoubt) Vessels like the Marco Polo, Advent and Garrick were rare but vital assets during the early stages of the Federation-Klingon Cold War. Their sensor suites and long range subspace arrays were often the first line of defence for Starfleet within the Disputed Area.
Another TAS project WIP, this time based on a design by @ncc-60205.bsky.social (who probably thinks I'd forgotten all about it!)
I gave this Marco Polo-class ship some more modern and more utilitarian detailing than most of my other ships. /1

Been wanting to share this cover for quite some time ❤️ I really love it & am proud of it & absolutely LOVE the way @charliekirchoff.com brought it to life! Though this is my final issue on this run, I’m so happy with how this issue looks (and @timsheridan.bsky.social ‘s story kicks ass!)

What's the current feeling on DeviantArt? I remember there was a bit of an uproar when they went all-in on AI a while back, but I don't know how that all panned out.
I'm thinking I could use it as a central gallery for my TAS ships. It still seems like a popular spot for ship designers.

Can a bigger ship nerd than me explain what these kind of class numbers mean?
I get that the model numbers are variants, including refits, but I've never found a consistent pattern for class numbers that makes sense to me! 🤔

It’s really hard to imagine how a genetically engineered species could have their genetic engineering altered over the course of a millennium. Bashir likely did it over a long weekend on Risa.
As a 90s Star Trek fan who had to put up with a LOT of "DS9 isn't REAL STAR TREK!" I find it especially offensive when the twerps use DS9 to justify their hate campaigns against the new shows.

A *very* rough flyby test animation of my Archer-class.
No blinking lights or spinning bussards yet. The warp stars were just brought in from a previous animation for a little extra interest. Mainly I just wanted to see how the ship and TAS shaders looked in motion…

I didn't like the idea of the War College either, but I can accept it as having been a post-Burn necessity.
My hope is that the writers plan use them to show that the Starfleet Academy way is better; that curiosity, compassion and creativity has value over more pragmatic solutions.

I like the War College. I was a bit unsure at first, but on reflection it places this version of Starfleet very firmly in a universe where the academy is pushing back against militarism, and I like that; the need to actively reach for optimism. #StarTrek #StarfleetAcademy
