Friday after work @granades.com and I are in the hammocks with a drink and a book.
A photo of a blue and green striped hammock with an ensconced Stephen looking out at Feferi, the red and white Corgi, who is eating grass. There’s a small wrought iron outdoor table with a citronella bucket candle and a beer beside the hammock. The photo is sun-drenched with the green of the grass and trees shining.

Hi, it’s me, the big baby who had to hide in the movie theatre bathroom for twenty minutes during the last Alien movie, I guarantee this will be the funniest day of your life and arguably one of the worst days of mine. Tell a friend about OTHERSIDE! Tell two friends, if you really hate me.

As a thank you for smashing SO many stretch goals, if we get to 300 backers @mruthrobinson.bsky.social will play Alien: Isolation on stream while Ash and Val tag along and laugh.

Think of it as our silly final backer goal as a treat—for you, not for MR.

www.kickstarter.com/projects/hyb...
Info for our Backer Goals! 50, 100, 150, 200, AND 250 Backers are unlocked! All backer goals are in rainbow with an open lock over a blurred version of OTHERSIDE banner art in purple, with a blurred floating fantastical head on the right. Now at the bottom there is a FINAL GOAL: 300 backers - MR plays Alien: Isolation. Instead of a lock there is a face hugger from the Alien franchise.

Because @misty.granades.com and my kid loved Ensign Ro in The Next Generation we watched the unaired Global Frequency pilot that @johnrogers.bsky.social wrote and good golly that pilot is such a marvel of tight plot setup while also setting the stage for so much character development.

“I hope I don’t have to explain to you that sometimes murdering your friends is the right thing to do.”

This story has a hell of an opening and then earns and complicates the promise of that sentence.

I had a story come out today!

If you think too much about fairy tale witches and also murder and complicated relationships, this one is for you.

I’m still chewing over the sentence Guan chose and his excellent analysis of how it breaks “rules” and why it works.

TFW you paid $1400 to see Beckett’s most famous work without knowing anything about it
One Star Review of Waiting for Godot on Broadway
I recently attended Waiting for Godot on Broadway and spent over $1,400 for two Row C seats (103 and 104). I'm a longtime admirer of Broadway productions and even hold a season pass for Shea's Performing Arts Theatre, so I came in with genuine enthusiasm and high expectations. Unfortunately, this show was unlike anything ! have ever experienced —and not in a good way.
What I encountered was not the artistry, music, or emotional storytelling I usually associate with Broadway, but instead what felt like an endless cycle of nonsensical conversation between characters who seemed trapped in their own madness. I tried-truly tried-to find meaning, symbolism, or even a thread of emotional resonance. I stayed through the first half hoping the second would offer clarity. But by intermission, it was clear: this was a waste of both time and money.
Keanu Reeves is an actor I respect greatly, but I cannot fathom why he would agree to participate in such a disjointed, inaccessible production. His talent was lost in a performance that defied reason rather than provoked insight.
To anyone considering attending: unless you are drawn to highly abstract, nearly incomprehensible theater, I strongly caution you against this show. For the average, educated, thoughtful theatergoer, it is far more frustrating than fulfilling. In my opinion, this was the single most disappointing Broadway experience I've ever had - an unfortunate waste of money and, more importantly, of time.

I had to do this for a friend who died a few years ago and it was a slog and a half and involved so much delving through Apple accounts and 1Password entries. I hate that you’re having to go through it as well; I found it incredibly draining.

Not every dream we visit is a pleasant one, especially when we know how it turns out. Well, the narrator knows how it turns out. For you to know, you'll need to read the poem "You're Dead & I'm Safe & Still I Dream of You" by @smhallow.bsky.social.

So you might have noticed that I've started posting little threads about my short fiction reading (with the hashtag #quicksipreviews). I'm testing this out bc I'll still be reading a lot of short fiction, but want the freedom to say as much or as little as I want, and to do it without deadlines

We're still trying to raise $246 this year to cover expenses, if you're feeling generous.

We'll never charge a submission fee, and we pay our writers.

Your help will also ensure that we can bring on a guest editor in the new year, to avoid that whole 'monolithic voice' business 💛🖤

Thank you. 🐝
