Added a column last night that naively strips out everything inside of parentheses before doing a word count. That's not going to be *exclusively* keyword reminder text, but it's perhaps a bit closer for most cubes.

Yeah sure, here or discord (haganbmj). I'm heading out to dinner in a bit so might be slow to respond.

Came up on discord that the scryfall oracle text includes reminder text... Sometimes. So that's another thing to sort out.

I saw you had "proportion singleton" in your twitter thread, so maybe I'll do something similar to that. Does seem like a decent way to hint at deserts, set cubes, ornithopters, etc.

I've got the UB/UW there in some limited capacity; probably could make UW more explicit - but I'm only looking at the original printing of each card for now and not which edition is listed as being included on Cobra or a summary of which reprints are available for a card. That's another neat idea.

Coolio, more text matching might be something I do bit by bit.
I was already running into some challenges with keywords/layouts not being as comprehensive as I was hoping.

I need to sit down at some point and do unique tokens and game objects and that might help to improve that.

I might not have asked _here_, but I did ask some friends a few days ago while slapping this together so that's perfect.

For referenced Zones and some of the mechanics (shuffle, counter, choose) did you have a clean data source for those or is that just trying to do text/keyword matches?
griselbrand.com
I'm using Scryfall for that right now - with multi-faced cards just being concatenated. Then I'm just doing the word count in regex.

The only things coming from CubeCobra at the card level are the ELO and Popularity scores.
griselbrand.com
Yeah definitely, I'll get a percentage added after work.

I'd like to add some charts to plot some high level stats of each cube against each other too, so maybe that'll help with some of those comparisons.

I need to circle back and figure out what I want to do with MDFCs too /shrug

While trying to figure out what cubes I want to draft this year at CubeCon I wound up hacking together a basic cube comparison page over the weekend to help identify some candidates. #MTGCube

It's probably Swiftspear, but I always liked these two because they further reinforced specific types of spell patterns. They're probably not the "most" prowess-y though as a result.

Gotcha, looking at it that way I see Initiative/Monarch as dedicated entries under Additional Rules (722/723) rather than being a sub-entry under keyword abilities. Makes sense to match the comp rules, so at least I know how to distinguish that now. Thanks!

Tossing out a question about @scryfall.com 's Keyword classification in case anyone happens to know.

Why are "Become the monarch" and "Take the initiative" not categorized as keywords, but "Venture into the dungeon" is? Is that a single owner vs designation thing?

/catalog/keyword-actions
Returns a Catalog of all keyword actions in Scryfall’s database. Values are updated as soon as a new card is entered for spoiler seasons.

Those are all hideous, but you could tell me half of them were real secret lairs and I'd believe it.

Yeah that's fair. I find I wind up in 3-4c value piles with Sylvan though frequently enough in my cube to make that a flexible first pick.
griselbrand.com
Probably a couple cantrips and secondary threats or something in there to fill it out, but yeah. Feels like that belcher would just guide my whole draft then make my games boring while I go 1-2 and get what I deserve.
griselbrand.com
Belcher or Twister.
Think I'd go with Twister because the way I'd want to draft a belcher deck sounds dull.
griselbrand.com
Oof, that is a tough p1p1 - I wouldn't mind taking the Sylvan either without having looked at the list.

'Grats on the finish.

Nah man a big part of why the UB stuff makes me sad is cause I know it's extremely popular so they're going to keep doing it despite it making the parts of the game I deeply care about worse. Like I know a bunch of people are going to buy the 6th marvel set but that doesn't make my FNM fire.

Hearing the conversations around the con, I think heavily enfranchised online folks significantly overestimate how much their opinions on Universes Beyond are shared by the wider player base.

This is not a value judgment of any opinion in particular: just being reminded of that myself, too.

Day 1 of CubeOpen Hamburg is done and it was a blast. 55 players. Six rounds, a 19person stone soup draft (still going on) and a money Team draft afterwards. Tomorrow we will continue and see who has the least fried brain. #mtgcube
