This was Headington Post Office from 1942 to 1916

It is ironic that Risinghurst and Wood Farm on the outskirts of Headington will each still have a post office while the central shopping centre doesn't, but no central business has offered to accommodate one

It looks as though buses from Headington to Oxford will not be too badly affected by the Oxford Half Marathon tomorrow (Sunday 12 October 2024), except for the No. 14 between Northway and the rail station: www.stagecoachbus.com/service-upda...

Here's a photo of the latest flags taken this morning.
Headington (Green Rd) roundabout on a cloudy day, with a few cars using it. 9 of its lampposts are visible, almost all have two flags on them: a St George's flag, and a Union Jack. The nearest lamppost has its flags streaming in the wind.

The Oxford Mail reported on 29 September 2025 that the “Stand Up to Racism” group took down 36 flags in Headington over the weekend, but apparently the “Operation Raise the Colours” group put up another batch last night

These flags got removed a few days ago.

As of this evening, another batch of flags (round 4) has been hoisted onto the lampposts. Saw the group of men with their ladders at dusk today putting them up.

There are about 25 flags flying high on the lampposts at the Headington roundabout, including England, Scotland, Wales, the Union Jack, the Red Ensign, Veterans Day, Royal Navy, and Victory over Japan

The Oxford Mail report the witness as saying, “"It's a long way to come to put up a flag, but they said they wanted to put them up higher than they were before because they claimed 'foreign people' had taken them down.” They could have learnt about this on social media

I imagine it is because the St George’s Cross flag put low down on the Headington Roundabout railings in August was amended to read “LOVE IMMIGRANTS”, as reported here by the Oxford Clarion: oxfordclarion.uk/clarion-week...
