I like the idea of this Human AU (?) because she and Scylla would meet under different circumstances and it's like

Scylla's wild and egotistic personality vs Chary's serious and prideful personality, they annoy each other (well, Scylla annoys Chary more*) but oh the yearning goes CRAZY between them
hekatiane.bsky.social
Human Charybdis who is very formal and lowkey regal and quite prideful and always has firm composure (sometimes she's like a statue)
hekatiane.bsky.social
Both are very different but they can give eachother what the other needs, even if both are not good people (if that makes sense lol)

Anyways TLDR Chary is like "I think you can find beauty within yourself" and Scylla is like "stop thinking so low of yourself, gal"

And idk it makes sense to me

- despite Chary being on Chronos' side (thinking this alliance would truly benefit mortals)

But also, she'd offer comfort to Scylla in the sense of, finding again that internal beauty (because god knows she'd notice those ineecurities)

And that's what would complement them
hekatiane.bsky.social
- in the way she treats others

She'd recognize the effort and skill of both Roxy and Jetty (they deserve to be treated kindly idc idc), and this even includes her cousin Melinoe

I dare to say she'd respect her, even admire her determination and physical/magical capabilities-

Contrary to Scylla's egotistic personality, Chary's guilt and regret manifests as shame and self-loathing, and puts her own well-being at the very bottom of the list

That strong personality is now locked away, but ironically it makes space for nobelty and modesty, and this is present-

Anyways, with time she just accepted that her curse was rightgeous. If anything, she's not ashamed of her monstrous nature, but rather her past actions

This is where the first contrast between them appears, and it's also present in their behavior
hekatiane.bsky.social
Essentially, Chary destroyed herself by trying to be like Poseidon (who isn't know to be an ideal paternal figure lol), and her loyalty to him was her demise

She's got a degree on daddy issues basically

Does this justify her actions? No, but it provides and understanding, which is different
hekatiane.bsky.social
I don't know how many mortals lived in ancient times (?), but she cared little for them. If the land she had to conquer was inhabited, she'd flood it and destroy it without hesitation or empathy

Chary's whole deal is a bit complex/long but let's say that she became aware of her actions too late
hekatiane.bsky.social
Zeus cursed her because she kept flooding the land, because he and Poseidon were fighting over territory (tl;dr)

The thing here is that Chary was not good. She was voracius, cruel and prideful, and too loyal for her own good. Her curse was the consequence of her actions basically
hekatiane.bsky.social
She's unable to accept her cursed status (and in consequence, incapable of liking herself) so she decides to chose copium instead, by feeding and feeding her delusions

Now, unlike Scylla, Chary's relationship with her own curse is different (this is where I ramble about my headcanons beware)
hekatiane.bsky.social
Or when she thought that Melinoe insulted her "by calling her a clam". Add to this her hatred for witches, etc.

So Scylla's response to her insecurities is to crank up that ego, to the point of treating others like they are inferior or less important (Jetty and Roxy), which is oftenly toxic
hekatiane.bsky.social
(While this doesn't justify her behavior*) this seems to originate from her relationship with her curse

Scylla takes very personally any comments about her appearance (she pretends to not care but she clearly does), talking about how "her voice sounds like dogs howling" or "her hair is like snakes"
hekatiane.bsky.social
Okay so my idea is that Charybdis and Scylla's personalities are opposite but also complementary

Hades 2 already states Scylla to be sadistic by nature (and probably egotistic too). She has a lot of delusions of grandeur, perfection, and is very self-centered. Ironically, Scylla is highly insecure

I saw someone making a fanfic about the most crackship I could ever imagine (no shade btw) and got me thinking

if this person can pursue their dreams then what's stopping me from writing Scylla-Charybdis fanfiction (besides my adhd), like
