There's nobody like him writing today. These are all superb reads.

#Noirvember 5 of 30 was Pickup on South Street (1953). This one teeters on the edge of boring anti-communist propaganda (sign of the times), but it's elevated by some stellar peformances, especially Richard Widmark, and a fast-moving plot with lots of twists.

#Noirvember 4 of 30 was The Set-Up (1949). I only recently got around to seeing this, but it became an instant favourite. It's a taught, personal story of a boxer experiencing a long dark night of the soul. Great acting, excellent cinematography. Highly recommended.

If you're a writer looking for good graphics software, Affinity has gone free (Mac and Windows). It includes vector/pixel/publishing (like Illustrator/Photoshop/Indesign) all-in-one. You just need a Canva account, but it's a one time login after you install.

Agree. It nailed that fun adventure thing completely. I'd hoped Stephen Sommers might return too as director, but his last outing was in 2013, so I'm guessing he's semi-retired.
Didn't have my glasses on and read that as Tales From Covid. :D
Vampire: Hello, I'm a stranger being chased for unknown reasons, can I come into your shack?

People in shack: Sure.

Vampire: Want to start an amazing folk trio with perfect harmonies for no apparent reason after I bite you and turn you into vampires?

People in shack: Why the hell not!

Grumpy Old Men 3. 😂

I kid. I love both of them.
#Noirvember 3 of 30 was Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid (1982). A great pastiche that I still find hilarious to this day. It gets bonus points for turning me on to so many other films as a kid, and teaching me the cigarette in the ear trick. :D

November 3, 1961: Twilight Zone's "It's a Good Life" airs. Anthony Fremont may be a little boy, but to the residents of Peaksville, Ohio, he's a big problem — a tiny tyrant with god-like powers.

Perhaps you've seen this little-known episode. 😜 (Yes, that's a joke.)
